Lions now need to trade for a TE. Since they have signed one and drafted one.

I honestly believe one of the reasons the Ebron pick failed in such spectacular fashion was the way the fans hated him for not being Aaron Donald. Clearly the guy CAN plan... he just never DID play for us for shit.

There are two kinds of players when the fans are booing them... the kind that shrivels up and hides from it, and the kind that uses it for fuel to prove everyone wrong.

Ebron shriveled and hid. Let's see what Hockenson does with it. If he's the workhorse everyone claims he is, all that anger may just pump him up.

Ink, I'm with you 99 percent of the time, but I can't be further apart from you with this post. The fans couldn't stand Ebron because he was a horrible football player for the team and instead of talking about how he would work harder and get better, he posted dumb post after dumb post on Twitter.

The more analysis I read/listen to, the less I hate this pick. He should play 90%+ snaps and should have immediate impact in year one. This entirely depends on if he lives up to the hype and the Lions actually utilize him. I know people are joking about the 3 first round TEs, but he seems to be a much more complete package than either Ebron or Pettigrew were at the time.

I'm a fan of trading down and we know teams were calling, but what were they offering? Denver traded down from 10 and received #20, #52 and a future 3rd...is that the kind of trade the Lions were looking at? is dropping that far down in the first worth it?

I don't hate the pick at all. If he becomes the next Pettigrew or Ebron, I will hate the pick, but right now I don't.

However, I'd like to the them come back today with Yock Ya-Sin, Greedy Williams, or Byron Murphy just so we can finally shore that spot up and quit listening to how it's our most dramatic and pressing need every damned year.

I'd also be fine with Jawaan Taylor, who I am honestly shocked is still on the board. I thought he might go in the first half of the first round honestly.

Hockenson could turn into a hof tight end ( and I hope he does) it still doesn’t make the pick correct. The Lions needed to fill the holes they had, and after they signed James I just don’t get picking a tight end at 8 ? Do the lions ever learn from past mistakes? Now we learn we could have added more depth with trading down? I just do not understand what the Lions are doing and never will I guess. Just have to hope we are wrong and the kid has a great career.

Last night they quoted a famous Gm, think it might have been Polian if I remember, who said "If you draft for need, you get fired".

We still have plenty of cap room, June cap cuts, possible trades, etc.... to fill temporary holes. What they needed to do, and need to continue to do, was draft the players they felt the best about drafting.

You don't want a team full of the wrong guys just because you had holes during draft week. six or seven years from now you want to be able to look at your roster and say "These are the guys I drafted, and it worked out well".

Will it? I don't know. But I know for sure it won't if you pick guys that you have concerns about just to plug a spot.

Pettigrew was considered the whole package. Maybe less refined as a passing threat but one no other TE in that draft could do as good, block. It was found out rather quickly that he couldn't block. TE in this draft wasn't a need not even a little one. He better be Gronk or continuous All Pro to be worthy.

And as mentioned at other times, trade down and still get him and 16-20+. Plus, our defense still needs players.

I think I heard another famous quote that said, "If you are the Lions, you suck, regardless of who you draft."

We signed a guy who we are paying as a top 15/10 TE in 2020 and 2021. Then we draft the same position with a top 10 pick. Just don't fully understand the plan here.

It's a TE, one of the lower valued positions in the league, if he becomes Gronkowski, then yeah it's worth it, it not it's a tough sell, and that's not fair to expect Hockeson to become Gronk.

It would be like drafting a long snapper in the 3rd round. Even if he is one of the best long snappers, you still overpaid.

They have Tom Brady, and BB - enough said. Its easy to try and compare with the stuff NE says when they have the two I mentioned above.

Not drafting needs gets you 3 TE in the top 20, which 2 already failed.
