Offseason Needs / 2013

Way too much. I'd give the guy 5 $60 mill and with a 6th year mutual option.

Didn't say it wasn't too much. But a guy making 10m or 15m doesn't matter to me.

He'll get no less than 14 mill per, it would be surprising if at least one team doesn't offer him 15 mill.

If someone offers him the $15 I doubt it will be for 6 years. I sure hope it isn't the Tigers.

Just read that Andre Either may be available via trade. Not sure how many years he has left on his contract but he made $10M last year. He would be a nice upgrade in the OF

Certainly a good player. In a vacuum, he makes a ton of sense. Of course, he's also a lefty that doesn't hit lefties well, compounding a problem we already have.

Yet he's a career .838 OPS guy. He might not hit lefties, but it's not like that's a reason not to consider him. Plus subtract Berry, Dirks, and Boesch, and we really only have Prince and Avila batting lefty.

He'd be a nice fit, the problem is what would LA want for him. I don't like trading Castellanos or Rondon for him.

Ethier has a .746 OPS Away the last 3 years (what should be in his prime). That is terrible for a corner OFer.

His extension he signed in June is 5 years for $85 Mil and we would have to trade someone or two to get him.

PASS!!!

I didn't know his contract situation. I agree 100%....PASS!

LA would give him away for nothing.

WOW. Bowden has the Tigers giving away the most talent, imho. And I also think Justin Upton is highly overrated.

.937 Career OPS Home (hitter friendly park)

.731 Career OPS Away

I've been thinking pretty much the same about bowden.
and also think the kid 'is' a bit over rated, talented....but I wonder what/why if he is that good a player at his age, why try to move him? and the questions about a shoulder? that haven't, that i've found, to be answered. Lastly, the manager is Gibby.....

Thanks for the tracker, KC. Though I'm not sure how B.J. Upton ranks 2. I'd put a bunch of guys before him.

sure, you're welcome....

I knew there were 3 offseason threads, and didn't want to skip anyones,

imo,
1. Tigers try to sign Sanchez, if not, imo they stick with Rick and Smyly,
2. try for a righty bat for left with good splits and platoon with Dirks,
3. Mr. I decides to go all in deep and signs another big name.

More I think about it, for number 2 -- Jonny Gomes. His numbers against LHP have been impressive.
