Get Startedvanderbilt blew a 6 pt lead on Tenn with 1:00 left...
tie ball game
tenn has ball for final shot with 0:02 left.
There was what I thought was a bullshit technical fouls called against Vanderbilt.
As always the SEC is corrupt.
MSU vs Iowa looks decent on paper for tonight. Then you remember Iowa does not care about playing ever playing defense.
Gonzaga has another HUGE test tonight against the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara.

I wish Jb would sprinkle in some zone everyone and then. We are so then depth wise it could help guys be fresh by seasons end. But then our man to man defense is something.
All hail Yaklich,Washington, and Haynes !
We don't practice zone, so it would probably be a disaster.
Eh, I don't know how much you need to practice zone to have a fundamental understanding. As long as you grew up playing ball as a youth (which, obviously all these players have), you know how to handle a zone. It won't be Syracuse-level, but it's not rocket science.
If you understand your teammates and their tendencies, zone can be done.
That's the problem. You need to practice it to understand your teammates tendencies when playing zone. Zones are not complicated, but they are really easy to beat if you're playing against a team that isn't good at zone.
Sure, but I think if they are getting smoked in a certain scenario, they'll be OK to mix it up on D. Heck, even a matchup zone.
When has our D been smoked by anyone this year? We give up 57 PPG.
No I get that. But it is never a bad idea to be able to go on the fly if the situation calls. I always enjoyed watching the occasional 1-3-1 come out. I remember a game against UCONN when Stu Douglass and Novak that were our stars, and the 1-3-1 flustered the heck out of them and they nearly pulled out an impossible game.
I also remember plenty of games where teams devoured our 1-3-1. I'm perfectly happy with where Yak has the D right now, which is one of the best in the country.
The offense just needs to start hitting shots again.
I'd amend that to say the offense just needs to start taking good shots again.

Yeah for sure. I know the defense is great. I just like to see some occasional flexibility in situations where you know a team might not be great at shooting, or vice versa. For instance, it would have been great against Wisconsin, a team that generally sucks from outside. Happ had a lot of 1-1 situations, especially at the end, when he was just better than the guy guarding him. I think a zone, even for a few minutes, could have thrown a wrench into the gameplan.
But yeah, just small nitpicks. The offense is the chief concern and they need to start taking better shots ASAP. And I think they will. This is the exact same feeling we've had almost every year. Last year if I remember right, they got trucked on the road by an OK Nebraska.
Instead of zone, I would have been happy with putting in Davis to give Teske a bit of a rest and foul 5 times in a row haha. Foul out in three minutes since Happ is such a horrendous FT shooter.
I'd be OK with that too. I was surprised that Davis got yanked after just a few minutes, I was quite impressed with his input in that game.
I wish Johns was ready to be a full-fledged contributor, but something is going on that the coaching staff does not think he's ready.
