Preseason Game 2: Lions @ Browns Thread

They could have added a S and CB a couple years ago and then built on it the past two years to make it strong. Added depth so when the starters get injured they'd have someone besides Don freakin Carey.

You can't neglect year after year while grabbing guys like Carey, Bentley, Bartell, not to mention the others. All they do at this time of the year is signed cheap CB and hope that they can play, like Conroy Black whlo they signed twice this off season and let go twice..

I'm concerned about the secondary..and if Slay is so damn good where is he? I have hope on him but if Carey plays in front of him in 2 games, I start to wonder..

So to Tony, who asked me wtf should I expect? My answer is more..

How many years did the consensus on this board hope for CB to be drafted high in the past years? You keep on neglected that position the "they tried to get better" scenario doesn't mean shit. They tried too late. And you won't get better by trying guys who have been cut multiple times in a short span..

Again, they have drafted players and signed FAs via DBs. So what they havent been 1st rd picks or superstars? They have adressed other needs or even strengthened their strengths. Just because you dont like who they have drafted, doesnt mean they were wrong. Get that outta your fn dense head.

And bringing in a vet like Mathis can help. A former all pro and versatile player, he can play anywhere as a DB. You wouldn't know this though because you know jackshit about football. This team is trying to better themselves but you fn clowns continue to bash. You keep setting yourselves up for failure time and time again. And when something goes wrong, you give us the 'I told you so' routine. Its fn pathetic. If something goes right, you don't know what to fn say...lol. Youre never happy...ever.

Most of the guys you mentioned in this list have started multiple games and played well. You act like every 2nd rd pick should be an Allstar. And not all of them have sucked AND you cant predict injuries. So wtf is your point?

I would say 2 on the list started games and played well....with an asterisk next to "well" cause most games they played in I'm sure they didn't do very well.

The pieces are there and some arent there...its a work in progress, but to bash on a team because Don Carey is on your fn roster is pointless. Just because a fn CB or Safety wasnt drafted in the 1st rd, doesnt mean they arent putting an effort towards building this team. They have strengthened their strengths with the DLine and are counting on the DB and LB situation to work out. Its a plan and if they stay healthy, i think it will be a successful one. So stop twisting my fn words....everyone should be held accountable. If the plan dont work then someone or some people need to be shown the fn door. Better?

Because trying to get better isn't getting better. Aren't you tired of our secondary play year after year? Aren't you tired of this team not competing more often than not? Aren't you tired of not drafting better after the 1st round?

I might be Mr. Negative right now but I don't understand why others don't want to face reality, that this team at this time is not good. And it's not based on 2 exhibition games.

I think that the problem with this team is poor drafting. The team has a lot of high end (contract wise) players and no depth. They NEED a high percentage of their draft picks to contribute and / or add good depth. They have not been doing this IMO. Some of the more positive posters (LPK) say last year was due to injuries which may be true but the problem is the lack of quality depth. A lot of teams have injuries but have decent back up players.

Yes Tony they tried bringing guys in and its not that we don't like them. It's that they are terrible NFL football players. That being said I like the Quinn signing, and Delmas was my favorite player that one game he played in 2010. IF Slay can become a legitimate #2 and Mathis still has some juice I have hope for the secondary. The linebackers on the other hand.
