Preseason Game 2: Lions @ Browns Thread

Interesting stat from an ESPN article that was ranking the top 100 offensive players in the NFL.

Stafford #94

"For his career, Stafford is just 1-22 against teams that finished the season with a winning record. His only win came in Week 8 of last season against the Seahawks. Stafford threw 727 passes in 2012, breaking Drew Bledsoe's single-season record of 691 from 1994."

Ouch, 1-22. I sure hope that changes or all the teams we play end up under .500,

Would it be better, LKP, if I just said the Lions have been 1-22 when playing teams with a .500 record or better (at season's end)?

It doesn't make them look better..

If gives context to what actually happened. Injuries to the Lions and talented players messing up for Stafford. And some not so talented (Logan, street WRS, backup safeties).

You know Stafford is not the problem.

LMFAO. Yeah one presesaon whiff makes you right. Just root for the Packers already and get it over with dude. You care about being right over rooting for this team. Mayhew knows more than you will ever know about assessing talent. Same with Shack Harris.

Palmer and Levy had decent days otherwise. +.7 run D for Palmer and .1 for Levy. Levy and Palmer each had a tackle for loss you must have missed. Since we can judge by one preseason play, Levy and Palmer are all pro with their one tackle for loss each.

Yup so good they went out and signed a middle aged has been.

Who can play special teams, won't take Levy's spot and they just waived Corey Greenwood to injury. Always good to upgrade the roster though. Could be depth but he has alot of starting experience.

Thank god I don't have to see the posts from ppl looking forward to greenwood anymore lol.

LOL. Wrong Greenwood bud. Chris Greenwood is still on the team. Corey Greenwood was the LB from KC for special teams.

I never said he was. He's part of it just like everyone else, well except maybe CJ and Hanson.

Stafford was the littlest part of a problem in those games. Many times he was the saving grace to why the game was even close in the first place.

If you read the articles, you would see Hanson has been a bigger problem against winning teams than Stafford. Missing against San Fran both years, at GB both years, at New Orleans in 2011 in the 4th Quarter, missing OT vs Houston. Those misses were all huge.

That article provides context to the situation. Stafford did well and others let him down. Sometimes because of backups, missed FGs, bad calls, Logan sucking, or talented players fumbling and a game of special teams fiasco.

Stafford is a very good QB desptie that record.

I think he is an above average QB. The article was a joke though. Excuse after excuse.

It's factual information on what happened in the games and may have led to defeat.

Whatever, we'll see what Stafford can do in 2013. I see 2011 numbers in his future.

the only facts are that they lost those games. The stats are facts but saying they should have won is purely hypothetical.

As far as his numbers this year....he will probably throw for a shit ton of yards again.

My guess for this year

4800 yards, 30 TDs, 17 INTs

The team won't be a success if he has those numbers but with over 700 attempts. He needs to be more efficient.
