Stafford gone to rams

agreed...and we dont have any draft picks lol. Again, our GM put our rebuild on hold. Not sure how you dont understand that.

We do have draft picks. 6 of them. And even more in 2022, 2023 which is great. It's not a one year rebuild. It has started already.

And pick 7 WE DON'T HAVE TO USE ON A QB. So we can start building
Also extra Round 3 which Holmes seems to be good at finding day 2 good players unlike past GMs
Also ability to trade down

So we have extra draft capital to START building the team the right way this year. And we will have some cap space too for free agents but shouldn't go too crazy

Then in 2022, jack pot. Possibly two first rounders to build the team for non QBs. Maybe just one.

The point is we got an extra 1st rounder in some year and 3rd round this year to use on a non QB. Two if Goff works out

With pick 8 only, you would HAVE to use that on a QB. So then you have to build through free agency instead of draft more, which is stupid

And with Herbert you lose Okudah. Okudah still has a chance to fix CB for us if developed by Glenn and company. And you know damn well that would have picked shitty ass Tua over Herbert

Also they were drafting for their jobs last year. They had traded Slay. Okudah was argument for BPA at 3. Why the hell would Quinn take a franchise QB if the defense is awful and he thinks he will be fired if they lose. Also Stafford looked tremendous in 2019 (106 rating) and under contract 3 more seasons at that point. Of course he is taking Okudah

that was the problem. Everyone here (except for a few) knew that Quinn and Patricia were busts. Lions management screwed up by not firing them after the 2019 season.

The Stafford injury and the fact they didn't have all "their guys" bought them a year

So they were allowed to add Collins and Harmon and Shelton etc. Funny those are the players that actually worked out. It is when they branched out and some other FAs (Trufant, Williams etc) and draft day 2/3 they failed. Also fact the coaching staff sucked on defense at least.

Also 4 year contract from 2018, they probably didnt' want to eat 2 years. Now it is only one year.

Reason for everything if you pay attention

yes, the reason they weren't fired was the Fords are too cheap to eat the contracts. Like I said, everyone could see that the coaching staff sucked and Quinn didn't know what he was doing. If they would have been fired after 2019 those bums wouldn't have been signed. Now they have to cut a bunch of players that were signed by that moron Quinn

Cuts give us cap space though big time. Some dead money but not killers at all for dead space. Coleman and Jessie James was before 2020 offseason. Shelton, Williams and Trufant were only 2 year deals. Don't mind keeping Collins, he is actually a solid player even though overpaid. Harmon is a free agent but he was solid too.

Tavai, Harris may suck but they are cheap and they were before 2020 offseason. I actually like Swift, Jackson and J Okwara, Cephus from 2020 draft. So maybe Quinn did something right in his final draft, TBD. We'll see on Okudah too. All four of those guys could work out

Quinns 2020 offeseason didn't kill the team. His 2018 and some of 2019 offseason did moreso. But we all love Hock and Ragnow from 1st round at least. And Flowers is really good but got hurt. I bet Flowers sticks around 2 more years at least

The draft could still work out and free agents are easily cut other than Collins/Vaitai. I'd give both of them a chance. Hell Holmes could ask them to take a pay cut too

One interesting thing I've seen and you will all hate it. Dan Campbell has raved about Jarrad Davis twice already. Davis is a FA though so we shall see

I firmly believe Lions will win more games in 2021 than they did in 2020. Chalk it up to improved running game, defense, better WRs or whatever...maybe Goff will just benefit from better luck.

vs Atl - W
vs Bears - W and W
vs Browns - L
vs Pack - L and L
vs Vikes - W and W
vs Az - W
vs SF - W
vs Balt - L
vs Cincy - W
vs Philly - W
vs Rams - L
vs Pitt - W
vs Sea - W

11-5 is my projected best case scenario
8-8 is my projected worst case scenario

Add a WR in FA and another in Draft, Add 3 players on D via FA and 4 in Draft

Things are not as horrible as everyone thinks. The 2021 defense will look very different. Defense will give up under 400 pts instead of over 500 with worst games vs Pack and Rams. Offense scores over 400 instead of below 400 with worst games vs Browns, Ravens, and Steelers.

I'm sure most are laughing, this is no less an unrealistic post than saying they will go 0-16 or 1-15, giving up over 500 and scoring under 300. That is not realistic IMO, but we still have the FA and Draft to go through so everyone's views will likely change after those things happen.

Based on what? We have no idea what our draft picks are or the free agents.

Anyone that has an 8-8 worst case expetation for this team next year is going to be extremely disappointed lol.

well, in his defense, that could be a reason for his optimistic outlook. He may think they are going to draft 6 all pro caliber players and add 6 all pro free agents.

You can also use one of those future firsts to move back into the first round if another player is there we need.

Really?

Like it or not, the 2 individuals in football who are assigned historical W-L are the Head Coach and the QB.

You tell me why. I think you have followed football long enough to answer this on your own like the big boy I believe you to be.

Still doesn't answer the question......a simple yes or no will suffice.

I am a Lions fan, I am used to disappointment...what difference will it make in my life? None. Only thing that is potentially going to make my life different is them winning in the playoffs. Yep, THAT would be a considerable adjustment in my life, even more so if they play in a Super Bowl...winning it will be completely life altering...well, ok...not really...cuz at the end of the day, it is still just football and not that important compared to family, friends, health... so, no... disappointment will not really enter my mind, just another SOL year.

You can also use one of those future firsts to move back into the first round if another player is there we need.

No one will give us a 1st this season for next years first unless they add another solid pick.

I guess I haven't seen those. Or cared enough to respond.

The worst defense in the league, with a high probablity we cant pay for either of our 2 best pass rushers Okwara or Griffen. High probablity we cut our starting CB in Trufant.

Regression at QB going from Stafford to Goff. High probability Marvin signs elsewhere and Golladay we cant afford to keep.

Add in the fact the SoS is tougher next year and i think the end result is fair to say 0 wins is possible. We will probably be favored to win in a couple games?...call it 2? We may get lucky and beat the odds in a couple games. 0 - 4 wins probable.

Lions 2 to 6 wins is looking likely unless they nail thr offseason. But they arent trying to do that. Its a rebuild figuring out defense, wr and run game

This is what the team does they keep pushing the rebuild further down. Everyone says what's an extra year or two, every season. They should have gotten picks this year for Matt and then traded down.

Did anyone offer two 1sts for him? Two 1sts and a bridge QB better than one. Especially when you HAVE to take a QB at pick 7 or pick 8 then. And who know might have been the 4th QB on the board by then. We shall see.

Lions got the best deal and it was outside the box. Holmes said he had a plan coming in

Lions have plenty of picks this year and high picks plus the extra 3rd. They can make some cap space but shouldn't go too crazy. Also due to the lowered cap, free agents should be cheaper too

You don't build through FAs you build through the draft. And the Lions got the max number of picks including two first rounders. And all sorts of options for QB. That is a win
