Stafford in Focus

bottom line... talent or no talent to throw too... staffords mechanic are bad, he chokes in the cerebral aspect of game, and is not good enough to take the chances he does. he will have more than enough this year and hopefully he doesn't choke again. I suspect he will light it up because there is a lot of negative things being written.lately on various sports sites.

I would sure hope so. If he doesn't light it up with these "weapons" that he has, then it's time to look elsewhere.

He will have a ton of yards, probably a lot of TDs and INTs but if you throw enough you will accumulate stats.

Win now mode right? Everyone said it. So if we dont make the playoffs we should get a dif qb. Im going to look beyond his loooooooong list of faults and say theres no way he has a bad year this year. You reeeeeeally have to suck bad to not put up huge numbers with all the changes they made specifically for him. Still doesn't change the fact he sucked ass the last 2 years.

That's why they drafted Ebron. Need to win now, and he's supposedly an immediate impact. But, the supporters of the pick get to spin both sides of the coin. If he's an impact now, I told you so. But it takes 2-3 years for someone to turn good, so there's a built-in excuse if he struggles early. They can wait the 2-3 years for him to develop, but not the 2-3 years for a CB/S to learn their position, because there's no time for that.

Megatron won't be in his prime forever.....I actually agree that it is NOW or never for Stafford. New offense or not, he needs to be elite.

Now, if we give up 35 pts a game and go 8-8.....that won't necessarily mean it's on the QB....but the offense, and specifically #9.....should be looked at as a top 5 O in 2014.

In 2011, how different were Stafford's "weapons?"

Calvin put up 1681- had him in 2013
Pettigrew put up 777- had him in 2013
Burleson put up 757- pizza got him, unfortunate
Titus Young put up 607- Durham is a wash with Young.

2013 he also had Bush and Bell, two outstanding receiving RBs. You can't sell me that he didn't have people to throw to in 2013.

If we give up 35..the blame goes on Mayhew for drafting a TE over secondary help.

If they give up 35 a game they won't be 8-8. Probably win 2 or 3 games in that scenario.

Stafford is not going anywhere no matter what with that contract.

Agreed....it should be easy to see if its "on the defense" or on stafford this year. I thought it was last year too though so im sure we will hear the same crap from stafford slappies blaming the wind in the dome.

Speaking of the windy conditions, what happened to that guy? I usually can't say one bad thing about Stafford without him all over it.

Yep. Always will be excuses. If you can't see that Stafford has been average for his career you never will..

Injured WR 2 and 3 for half of seasons or players that struggled at 2 and 3, drops, slower TE, inconsistent (6 games 2013) or just plain poor run game (2012), tons of fumbles lost not by Stafford, coaches who didn't care about turnovers, and Calvin hurt at times or playing hurt.

I'd say there are plenty of LEGIT excuses. And when you add them all together it makes life much harder than it should be on Stafford.

I don't hear tom Brady execuses.

Poor guy, can't catch a break.

Well the difference is that Tom Brady is a good QB. He got 12 wins with Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, and Aaron Dobson at WR. It's a novel concept, but he makes his players better. Just like Russell Wilson did with TWO undrafted free agents at WR (Baldwin, Kearse), and a decent functional TE.

You think Stafford could win with Baldwin, Tate, and Kearse as his wideouts? HELL no. Calvin equals two of those three guys and then some.

Tom Brady got better run game support and better turnover support. Big difference than just losing weapons.

if you mean he only had 11 INTs (1.8% percentage) compared to Stafford's 3.0% you are right.

Amendola had more targets than Durham (over 80). Gronk had more targets than Burleson by 14. Pats had their 2nd round pick Dobson, Broyles got hurt for the Lions. Brady dinked and dunked to Edelman for 151 targets and had a low YPA. Not hard to outscore the Jets, Dolphins and Bills either. Plus keep the ints down dinking and dunking. Brady had less TDs than Stafford too by the way. Vereen matched Bells targets. Pettigrew matched Kembrell Thompkins. And Bush had 80.
