The official combine thread

Dueling 40s: Tavon Austin blazed in at 4.25 and 4.31.
Marquise Goodwin did better -- following his 4.25 with 4.29.

Blazers. Goodwin is a straight track guy, place tenth in the long jump at the London games. Not a tight route runner but you can't teach speed.

Goodwin also ran a 4.25 with several scouts on hand saying they actually times him at 4.19. Denard ran a 4.34. Still think he's a RB though.

Daytime Kenny Stills Broyles old Robin to his Batman, 4.34...btw I am depressed I am getting this excited about recievers.

This is what the combine is about... Wideouts and running backs hitting low 40s.

i can definitely see Mayhew grabbing Austin at #5 after this. they honestly could use a burner like him opposite CJ with Broyles in the slot and they love to give Staff weapons before all else. as much as they need DEs, i'm hoping one will still be available in R2 or they grab a couple in FA.

so let's see, CJ on one side, burner on the other. safeties theoretically split up to double each leaving broyles 1v1 down the middle, but i can see LBs covering the underneath with nickel deep to apply a form of double coverage on him. that's 6 of 11 guys covering the WRs which should mean great performances by the RBs, but unfortunately they will continue being tackled when they get the handoff.

Die.

LOL...you're only saying that cuz you know it is the truth from Mayhew's perspective! gotta make sure Staff has "weapons".

believe me, i won't be happy with it as i have always believed they should build trenches out, but we've all seen it time and again with Mayhew that he loves "weapons", and he's now looking at an O with CJ, an aged Burleson, and questionably healthy Broyles, not to mention the Titus debacle.

there are so many holes on this team it feels the same as 2009. weapons, weapons, weapons!!!

I remember when millen drafted weapons for Harrington. Neither he or the weapons panned out. I'm like an elephant I suppose.

The official 40 times were released and Goodwin was by far the fastest still at 4.27. Denard at 4.43 did not hurt himself.

late tweet, sorry about previous.
Official 40 times in for WRs. Marquise Goodwin No. 1 at 4.27. Tavon Austin at 4.34. Previous 40 times were hand-held, unofficial. But FAST.

Didn't Denard say he could beat Bolt in a 40? Shit, he wasn't even top 5 from the wr's today.

I disagree. I think he needed to be low 4.3 to keep his stock at level. His entire rep is based on being the fastest and 4.43 was not even close to that. So many questions regarding him as a WR, the one he needed to be #1 at was the 40. I think this drops him to R5 at the earliest (compared to some who had him at R3) and potentially R7 or Undrafted territory. Couple the 40 time with the questions still lingering about his arm, I can see him being late R7 or Undrafted.

And I also still believe he should be targeted as a RB instead of WR.

Wow, Le'veon Bell just ran a 4.52 at his size. Just helped himself a lot.
