Training Camp MEGA thread

The dude missed two games. That's 1/8th of the season. If you can't recover from that, you don't belong in the playoffs.

2 games means 2 Lions win and the division. Very limited against Browns and Giants too. Look at the snaps for that. So thats 25% of the season. Plus playing hurt. And it was always Calvin and someone else (Burelson or Pettigrew/Broyles)

Ansah/Jones lots of injuries.

Houston,Slay,Mathis,Bentley all missed time. Sometimes at the same time. Plus Houston playing hurt really screwed us.

Concentrated at DE, WR and CB. That hurts more. Young, Greenwood/Green did a solid job. Durham and Carey didn't.

He still counts Broyles as a concentrated injury. Like that mattered to us.

Anything that makes Durham play more was a very bad thing. Broyles healthy can contribute. He was limited playing hurt for 8 then fully hurt with the achilles.

But it's more Calvin/Burleson Week 5 and 6 and Calvin/Pettigrew Week 16 and 17.

Durham>>Broyles.

And don't count Pettigrew because your high on Ebron BECAUSE of Pettigrew.

Pettigrew is still productive. Just can't be the main guy or a seam buster. Pettigrew to Fauria is still a big downgrade.

It's a fact Lions were healthier first 9 (still had some injuries) but 6-3. More injuries final 7 and finished 1-6.

CJ was healthy he had 2 games with the bears and one with MN. He had 14 catches on 36 targets (39% catch rate) for and average of 55 yards per game. He could have laid eggs in those games he missed. The bottom line is he missed the games just like other players miss games. Didn't AP miss the last game of the year and GB always beats the Lions on the road.

that shows the lack of depth. Every team is more injured at the end of the season but the good teams can overcome the injuries because they have good depth.

of course you ignore

Stafford giving the Bucs the game with 4 INTs including a pick 6
Stafford giving the Raves the game with his 3 INTs
Stafford giving the Giants the game with his 4th quarter pick 6

Packers didn't 2-5-1. Bears didn't 8-8. San Fran was healthy. Eagles healhy.

And like I've said, if you are hurt and the other team is more hurt, then you can overcome things. Lions never played a more hurt team down the stretch.

And it depends where the injuries are and how many in each position group. If it's a strength (Seattles secondary) they lose a ton more games. Only had 4 games missing 2 or more secondary in Seattle. 2-2 when that happened. If it's a thing that doesn't matter (WR for Seattle with Harvin and Rice) then you can overcome by playing to your strength.

You can't have depth at every position group. Greenwood/Green actually did a good job too. So did Willie Young. Mathis did a great job. However, Houston playing hurt is where it cost us the most.

TB who beat the Lions had 86.6
Pit who beat the Lions had 83.5

GB 104.5 games

Playoff teams that had more games missed due to injury

Like I said, during the Giants game they were healthier that day. They got some people back.

at Pittsburgh, at Phi, at Minnesota and Baltimore all were healthier the days we played them. And GB at Week 5 for sure were healthier than us. Player by player

Concentrated injuries at DE, WR and CB hurt Detroit. All injuries in one area is way worse. And Detroit was a winner before they hit hard. That's a fact. Most of Detroits injuries were in the last 7. It wasn't spread evenly all year.

13.5 Jones, 8 Broyles, 7 Burleson, .5 Quin, .25 Bell, 1 Fairley, 2.5 Bush, 3 Waddle, 3 Fox, 2.5 Ansah, 4 Houston, 2 Mathis, 3 Bentley, 4 Slay, 1 Idonije, 2 Calvin, Reiff .5
Plus Calvin and Houston and Ansah all playing hurt.

This causes losses. And there were plenty of teams healthier than Detroit. Maybe we'll be the least injured team this year or top 5 or 10 least.

so the Giants and Ravens were healthier...is that why Stafford gave those games away? How about TB...healthy teams get 4 INTs and a pick 6?

Tampa can produce turnovers. Tampa got pressure from McCoy and company and had 3 nice picks. Still don't know how David caught that one and why Pettigrew ducked. The last pick was pure luck for Tampa off Calvins hands. That play is made Detroit wins. So was the fumble. Pure luck for Tampa.

And they got lucky Houston was hurt to have Underwood score a long TD.

And we still only lost by 3. They should have crushed us. That is how much better we are than them. We are going to kill them this year.

14 teams were healthier than Detroit last year. Most by 20 adjusted games lost. One was 30 and one was 40. Detroit deserves that type of health.

The one with 30 and the one with 40 was KC and Philly. They had terrible 2012s and then turned it around with health. This could happen to Detroit.

Sweep Vikings, sweep Bears, crush Tampa, beat Giants, split Pack, crush Bills, beat Miami, win at Jets. That's 10

at Arizona, Saints, vs Falcons in London very winnable too. Even at Carolina.

at Pats only definite loss. at GB we'll see who's resting and who's healthy Week 17.

If only we had Bell for that .25 of a game. 7.25 and 8.75 vs 7 and 9
