It does show one thing, that we drafted a bunch of crap over the years. Can't argue that..

LOL. It's cute they think they could be better than Mayhew. Hindsight is 20/20 and I'm sure their memories from the 100+ "forum mocks" they made in 2010 and 2011 is fantastic. Oh I totally drafted Peyton Manning and Tom Brady to be his backup. I've won the last 12 Super Bowls as GM of the Lions. Peyton was self taught so I didn't even need to hire an offensive coaching staff.

Again, you two go so far over the top. Where Mayhew had been awesomeville..

Mostly good. Few hiccups. You should be happy and proud we have a GM that can bring in so much talent. Turnover prone but talented.

Yeah I'm so happy that we have the best team in the world and can't win a playoff game. Not hard to pick a good player in the top 5. Yeah us..

I never said I could be better than Mayhew. Just that evaluating talent and seeing good players in the later rounds isn't some sort of crap shoot. Every year I see guys like Tony and Slick back in the day do a good amount of research and looking at other peoples break downs and finding these guys too. Its not the toughest job to see a talented guy play college ball and then look at what he might do in the pros. You can be as wrong just as easily. But its shocking how often GMs pick the wrong guy. Look at the Lbs that went before Bowman or the qbs that went ahead of Brady. Also I dont really do mock drafts just look at positions and have the list of guys I think will be good and will break down what other people say about players based on what I find about those guys. I am pissed that we take guys like Spievey who nobody thought would be good over guys like Kam Chancellor who had size and speed to be a very good safety if he was taught the position. Every team passed on him multiple times not just the Lions. But its the talent evaluation that hurts franchises. New England gets a good grade not because they are better at it but because they stock pile picks and pick multiple players with decent to good grades in every round. Guys Belichek thinks he can make better.

98% Slick, 2% Tony..but Tony is now 'Mayhew is good' bearer..

Whole heartily agree with this. Most people miss this about NE.

Hindsight is 20/20. We have no idea if Seattle thought Spievey or Major Wright or Morgan Burnett was ahead of Chancellor. Nobody knows what their draft board looked like. Seattle never got the opportunity to choose in Round 3 or if they did, maybe the guy they picked (not Chancellor) most likely had a higher grade than the safeties at the time.

You are assuming they had Chancellor over all those guys. The only thing we know is they had Chancellor higher than all the guys taken after that pick (not before).

Hindsight is 20/20. But eventually you have to take notice that your picks aren't panning out, regardless the reason.

And another thing with the draft. Each team is in a different situation with different needs. I thought the front office took Spievey to be a CB and then the coaching staff wanted to make him a safety. Wasn't that the rumor or was it the other way around.

The picks are panning out. Alot of them. Not 100% but alot of them.

2010 was a big trade draft for Mayhew. Rob Sims, Corey Williams, Shaun Hill, Chris Houston with late round picks. Plus Willie Young. Best was talented but a risky pick. Spievey was a CB/safety hybrid. Forget what the FO wanted him to be. Suh was a slam dunk.

Suh, CW(for a couple years), Rob Sims, Chris Houston (2010-2012) and Willie Young. Best in 2010/2011 short term. That is a succesful draft/use of draft picks getting that many guys.

2009,2010 and 2013 were very succssful wiht 2009 and 2013 the best.

2012 is solid with Reiff, Bentley(nickel) and the jury still out on Greenwood/Green/Whitehead/Lewis.

2011 is Fairley only. 2011 sucked but it's funny that's the year we made the playoffs after our shittest draft.

2011, shittiest draft, penalties galore and personal fouls like crazy, shitty run defense, very bad injured secodary last 6 games.

But yet we forced 34 turnovers and our franchise QB played like an elite one.

Throw him the miss pile. 2010 still a good draft/use of draft picks. Listed plenty of good things that came from it.

How about the we kept him way too long pile..or he's a piece of shit pile..or what the fk were you thinking pile.

yup....Stafford was statisticly the 5th best QB in 2011 (of course Manning was out that year) but that was the ONLY year he was good.

Mayhew is fine. He's brought all kinds of talent onto this football team. They're just undisciplined. You're just too fn stupid to see it. Not your fault, you were just born that way.
