2014 Mock Draft Thread

Well, if Watkins is gone, I'm all for trading down. Even if it's just a couple spots, it might net us an extra 3rd round pick.

Same....if Watkins is gone I could care less who we get between :

11-15 Ebron, Gilbert, ealy, jernigan plus a 4th

15-20 dennard, evans, hageman, Pryor plus a 3rd

20+ lee, Clinton dix, amaro plus a 2nd

We should just be plugging holes at starting positions yet again this draft.

If trading down were as easy as you make it sound, every team would do it. If Sammy Watkins isn't available at #10, then I'm fine trading down. But in order to trade down there has to be a team willing to give up assets (draft picks or players) to move up. And while it'd be nice if a team drafting behind us falls in love with a QB like Derek Carr, I wouldn't bet on it.

never claimed it to be easy. trading down seems to be the best option given our cap situation.

looking at all these mocks strengthens my belief that detroit needs to trade down if there are any takers. whether its a WR or a CB we can probably get what we want later in the first round. getting the extra picks help us with our cap situation too.

LOL a rookie Gilbert is not better than Houston.

LOL a rookie gilbert has more talent than Houston. has more potential than Houston. Its about grooming a winning TEAM. Not who will play better next year. Gilbert and slay give our secondary hope. Houston has proven to be a loser. Hes gone through 2 FA periods and no one has wanted to touch him. he got smoked last year. hes not a player you build the future of your defense around.

Houston playing like 2011/2012 is better than Gilbert now or in 2015. Houston is fast, has expereince, good technique and similar size.

First, we don't know if Houston will play like 2011/2012. Second....Now you can see the future?

But Gilbert is still a better guy to build a team around, compared to building a team around Houston. If Watkins is gone at #10, I'm fine drafting Gilbert.

That is a a complete unknown. Gilbert is cheaper and talented that's about it right now. It's not even known if Gilbert is even worth the number 10 pick right now. Our analysis of the "you tube" game tape means jack. There is alot more information on real game tape, medical examinsation, psychological evaluations, breaking down film evaulations, reference along with combine to come.

2011/2012 Houston you can build your team around. You can make the playoffs with him as your number 1 CB (2011). Injured Houston getting beat deep 3 times plus 2 other scores, well no you can't. Let's see what Houston shows up and if Slay and Bentley continue to develop. And you never know they could get another free agent CB. They're going to have space avaiable with a Suh extension or some restructures/Harris cut (7.5 million either way).

You keep talking about Houston's 2011 season. Looking back that was his only standout season he has had in his 7 year career. That year he had 5 INTs and 2 returned for TDs. The other 6 seasons total he had 8 INTs and 1 returned for a TD. I think the odds favor that 2011 was a fluke season and the real Chris Houston is what you got the other 6 seasons.

Houstons' 2012 was very good as well. 2010 was solid. Not good in Atlanta. And last year he was dealing with injuries.

I expect a bounce back year from Houston to his Lion veteran form of 2011/2012.

houston was a decent CB but injures i think hurt his game and he hasn't recovered
