2014 Mock Draft Thread

Mike Evans WR - 2
CJ Mosely ILB - 2
Darqueze Dennard CB - 2
Sammy Watkins WR - 1 (Only mock he was still on the board)

Interesting on the Mosely picks, I haven't seen too many people sending him to the Lions at 10.

Mocks are pretty useless until after the combine just trying to march team needs with no sense of positioning.

I hope Bortles doesn't go to the Browns because I like him and I'd hate to root for the Browns.

Careful. I said that weeks ago and basically was told to STFU and let the kids speculate blindly.

you think part of it is in his head?

I don't know what he's thinking. Is he close to his Dad? It might factor a little into his shit play or it doesn't factor at all. I'm clearly speculating.

I really like Mike Evans but not sure he is a top 10 pick with significantly more upside than some of the other wrs in this draft. I really like the idea of going safety with a guy like Clinton-Dix who could play nicely next to Quin and focus on pass D which has been something we have lacked. I am not sold on Gilbert at 10 but I do think his upside makes him worth discussing. For me either Gilbert or Clinton-Dix are more in play since a wr like Benjamin could still be in play in the second. But with a smart draft we could get another 2 starters in the first and second rounds plus another if we can get a kicker to take over later in the draft.

why is everybody so high on marqise lee? he's not that good. 3rd round....sure. He's not a 1st round pick, IMO. I keep seeing him mocked to us.

Yea no thanks on Lee in the first. I have been on the Clinton?Dix train for a while now.

He's consistently being mocked mid first round. He's not a 3rd round pick. He had a letdown year in 2013 because of injuries, but was one of the best in the nation in 2012, which is why he's considered in the top 3 of WRs in the 2014 draft. But I do agree, I don't want us taking him with the #10 pick.

i think Lee is a titus clone....yucky imo.

I'm still not advocating that the Lions take him with the #10 pick, but I think saying Lee is a Titus Young clone is selling him short. Lee is at least the same height, if not one inch taller than Titus. And more importantly, he's 20 pounds heavier, which should help his durability. Also, Lee played against much tougher competition while at USC than Titus did at Boise State and put up even better numbers than Titus. In my opinion, if Lee clears medically, runs a fast 40 (4.4 range), and runs smooth routes/catches passes well at the combine and his pro day, he'll likely be a top 20 pick, if not top 15 pick.

all of this is true. but if titus played on a usc team with all that other talent....he would have looked that good too. Titus made kellen moore look good lol. And its easy to say usc plays better talent.....but in reality the pac 10 was known for its awful defense up until maybe this year and previous Stanford teams. Really though I was moreso describing who they are in the NFL....or should I say...who they should be. Both of them should have been/should be used as intermediate guys that do a lot of their work on crossing routes and then turning that into YAC with their quickness. We used titus on the outside way too much imo.....he just wasn't good enough to consistenty beat people and I don't think Lee will either.

Ok, that's fair. Thanks for your explanation.

3. Watkins

Your list is upside down for me. I think one of the safeties may sneak in there as well, but i'd love to see pryor on the board when our 2nd pick rolls around.

As of now mine are:

1. Gilbert
2. Barr
3. Watkins (good value at 10 but would rather have Barr or Gilbert)
4. Denaard (would like to see a trade down if they get him)
