2015 Cap

Taking 5 million of his base to signing bonus, adds 1 million to each year 2016-2019. No big deal.

2.8 million added to Staffor for 2016 and 2017.

Lions can handle an extra 5.3 in dead money in 2016 and 2017 from these restructures.

If Suh signs long term, they won't need to do 4 restructures either. Maybe 1 or 2 or none.

so you take $5M and structure it into a signing bonus which lowers his 2015 salary by $4M and creates $4M of "dead money" that is spread out from 2016-2019 @$1M per year. If he leaves at any time prior to 2019 any "dead money" that was not accounted for is added to the cap hit the year after he leaves / is cut.

We would still have cap savings by cutting him. Just less by about 4 million. But we aren't cutting Calvin. 24 million, 25 million in 2016. Not a big deal. Hell they may restructure that too.

Instead of 11 million of cap room we get 7 million of cap room if we cut him in 2016. Not happening either way.

Most likely he gets restructured again. His dead money in 2017 would be 8.8 million plus the 2016 restructure amount. Restructure him a third time. 2018 is when you cut him.

The 2018 would be 3.5 million plus 1 million (2015) restructure), plus 2 years remaining from 2016 restructure and 2 years remaining from 2017 restructure. Assuming 5 million each time of base is restructured
3.5+1+2.4+3.2=10.1 in dead in 2018.

You would get 3.75 in savings in 2016 and 3.2 million savings in 2017.

First, Fairley deal would be 4.33 first year and 9.83 for 16, 17

This would leave 12.1 less 7.43

George Johnson wrould get a Carey type deal
930,000 less 435,000 min- +495,000
6.97 balance

Prater is costing you 3yrs 6 mil or more
cap 2 mill-2015
4.97 balance

Muhlach will cost 700 less 435=265,000

Balance 4.6
First 6 draft picks will be 4.25 mill less 7 X 435000 or 2 mill net
2.6 balance

Practice will cost 800,000

Balance 1.8

Orlovsky will add net 300,000

1.5 balance

Mathis won't be playing for vet min.
one year deal 1.5 min

Zero

Fairley you wouldn't raise the base that much year 2. Really a 2 year deal despite being 3 years. It's like Pettigrews deal. year 3 and 4 really fluff.

AND THE DRAFT PICKS DO NOT COST 4.25 MILLION. 1.2 million at most. round 1 and 2 you take off 500k each time too from those cap numbers.

Mathis played for vet min last 2 years. He'll be 35.

Dan O will not add money. He didn't last year.

4 million for guard and 4 million for Fairley if you want. But you have to remember to take 1 million off the futures guys dropping. So really 7 million in space taken.

5 million left is plenty for Prater and those vets.

Dee Ford. 1.4 million last year at pick 23. Less 500k. 900k round 1. 400k extra for round 2. Rounds 3-7 don't add any extra.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/detroit-lions/darius-slay/

And slay was top of Round 2 not pick 23 in round 2. 900 k year 1. Less 500k. So 400k extra.

1.3 million for the draft. Final answer.

Prater 3 year 6 million
1 million signing bonus. 825 k base. 1.1 million cap number less 500 k of course. 600k extra for Prater

Checked the first 6 picks last year less 6 X 435,000= 1.6mil, and with the cap going up 10 mil you can beat rookie money will too.

You're giving Fairley 11 mil his first year, which means he has 13 mil coming over two years, you tell me how it's being paid

Last year was top 10. Secondly round 3-7 swaps with the futures deals guys for no extra space taken. 1.2 million in extra space needed for draft.

4 million then 9 million. Like isaid. Really a two year deal with one year of fluff

Sure, just take off the guys that won't be on the team, make it easier, which would be $23mil with, 38 players, like I said

And most of the draft picks and vet free agents cost a similar amount (500k-700k range). So over 16 million under with over 53 under contract. Plenty of room.

Truly it's 53 with 16.8 million though. And you are just swapping out rookies and vets for the futures deals guys. Like I said.

FYI, I did a scenario with keeping SUH and still getting my FA JPP, Iupati and Cox

JPP will be franchised. My scenario we got Fairley back. We wouldn't need JPP with Suh, Fairley and Ansah. And like I said, franchised.

We can get Iupati and Cox easily. Slay and Mathis still start over Cox though.

As of 3 days ago NYG didn't plan on tagging, they don't tag people

They slotted the draft picks tsmith. Looks like I was right how much extra cap would take up for the draft. 1.5 million in "extra space.

15.1 in space includes the draft picks. Plenty of room for Suh and some other free agents with some cuts and restructures mixed in.

Rookie pool $4.7, I had $4.25 for 6 rookies, so thats about what I figured

Turns out to be $1.7, $500,000 more than "your most" of $1.2
