2015 Cap

17 million under and Lions can create 21 million (8 cuts, 13 restructure) in room easily with very little future burden.

Suh franchised at least, bring Fairley back. Still room for a left guard or solid CB.

Also, I don't give a shit if QBR is flawed to some degree...9th in QB $$$ should put up better than 20th in QBR. The stat might be flawed, but I doubt it's that flawed.
very true... however, and i know i'm in the minority here, we do need to see what he can do outside of year 1 in a new system. if he doesn't show steady improvement next year after a 2nd full off-season working in the new system, then i'm going to be jumping over to the other side and begging for him to be cut and draft somebody else. the rest of the team, as a whole, is too talented (despite some obvious flaws) to let the QB hold them back.

Good points, I agree somewhat...I'm more of a homer when it comes to the future.

I'm foolishly optimistic that Lombardi and the offense will be better in year 2, probably because I don't see how they can be worse.

The talent is there, but it's also lacking in certain areas... They have a big opportunity to revamp most of the o-line this off-season and I'll be pretty disappointed if they don't use some early picks or mid-level money on a RT and LG.

If they fix these issues and Stafford still puts up mediocre numbers next season, can't beat good teams, and they fail to win payoff games... Then I have no hope that they'll ever win with him.

I'd hate to see Stafford's career end with no meaningful wins and a list of excuses a mile long.

Yeah because the offensive playcallers showed competence all year long right? Like theo riddick not playing all year long. We should totally judge the players with these baffoons we have making offensive decisions.

Jim caldwell is rod marinelli of offense. Unless he has better coordinators this experiment will go down in flames. And quickly.

Jeremy Ross probably played more snaps than Riddick did.

Jeremy Ross lead the team in offensive snaps, with 709, Theo Riddick....172, wow!!

Ross

Riddick

I know this comment won't be taken the right way but whatever. I bet ryan broyles had more yards in his 6 quarters of preseason play than jeremy had all year lol. Well he didn't, but I stilll think broyles brings more than ross. Maybe it's just my opinion. Sure ryan is brittle as can be..but he showed some potential multiple times..I wish he'd get a shot.

The one thing I disagree with is "the talent is there." It's said enough but the OL needs serious upgrading, RB esp. Bush needs to see improvement and the QB is, well he's not good. We still need a 3rd WR and the the TE's..nope. So I don't believe the talent is there..

The lions will not fork out the cash needed in your fantasy

It's a fact they can get that much room. Fairley and suh could see back easily. And either a guard or corner but not both.

Mathis, Johnson, Collins, Abdul quddus , Palmer, one backup qb cheap

And prater on a multi year deal

Show us the numbers...

17 million in room at 142 cap
Spotrac, mlive and netrat all back that

8 million cutting tulloch, jones and bush

Stafford restructure for 5.7 million. Noted on mlive article
Take 5 million calvin base for 4 million in savings adding 1 mil to each remaining year
Quin and tate restructure vet min another 4.1 million. Adds 1 million and 777k to each of their remaining years

8 plus 5.7 plus 4 plus 4.1 plus 17 equals 38.7 million in space

38.7 less 26.7 still leaves 12 million for free agency after suh is tagged. Plent for fairley, draft and. Cb or guard plus with top 51 rule any other of our free agents to resign we want.

Also of note, the 9.7 dead money to suh is already accounted for in the 17 million under number

Sure, lets restructure our fucking QB. So we can keep him until he retires. Brilliant.

We want stafford around. Only idiots want him gone after 2015. He gets restructured. Probably a new longer deal after 2015 even or a second restructure

To get the staff, cj, tate, Quinn restructure amounts the team would have to put up $18.5 mil.
Fairley will cost 6 mil per year/avg or more and $6 min SB.
prater will cost 2 mil
mulbach 1 mil
the 2014 rookies for the 23rd pick for each round Was $4.25 cap, $7.15 in SB, first 6 rounds

This would give us 45 players with 8 to sign, which includes possibly a starting DE. The 8 can't all be vet min.
we have a min of $32 in SB paid.
cap $12 mil, less $11.25mil
(fairley(say $4mil cap 1st yr), prater, muhl, rookies) leaves less than 1 mil to sign 8 players and practice squad

Vicious cycle of excuses stafford has himself in. He wasn't in a new system the previous 5 years....whyd he suck a majority of those?
