2017 NFC Playoff Thread

I think the Lions win their next two. The Bengals have quit and AR won't play in week 17. The Lions get the 6 seed, go to LA and lose by 5 TDs.

Atlanta did not look good last night. They damn near lost that game. However, they only have to win one of their next to. I get that they have New Orleans in Carolina left and those are two tough games, but Carolina may be playing nothing but second stringers and practice squad guys that game.

I think the Lions finish 10-6 and get the 7th seed. Unfortunately, the worst thing about that will be the return of Caldwell, Jim Bob Cooter, and less he takes a job somewhere else Austin will be back as well.

I think your right . I keep hearing the one way the Lions can get in which is winning out and the Falcons losing both games . I thought there was a way for the Lions to get in if a bunch of teams finish 10-6 based off conference record ?

In the scenario where ATL has something to play for in week 17, Carolina would still be playing for the division win and a home game in round one. If ATL wins both games they win the division and a home game. Of course, in that scenario, the Lions would be left out because all three of the NFC south teams would likely be 11-5

Carolina is in the mix of the NFC South race if they beat Bucs. They would be 11-4 with the Saints at 11-4. So they would be playing to win the South in Week 17

If Carolina loses to Bucs and Saints beat Falcons, then Saints would win South. Carolina would be playing for the playoff though in Week 17 because Detroit can pass them if Detroit wins next two and Dallas OR Seattle win the next two (they play each other for one sure victory unless there is a crazy tie).

Carolina is 100% playing starters in Week 17.

Carolina lost to Bucs and Falcons losing to Saints is best scenario. It means one of them will lose out since they play each other and Detroit will have a playoff shot. Whether they need Dallas or Seattle to win Week 17 depends on if Atl or Carolina lose.

My gut tells me Cincinatti is going to clip the Lions and we can stop all these conversations, thank the lord.

Well the Bengals will be playing for Lewis . I think they will be up for the game . The Bucs played pretty good last night Winston was great. Except that last drive he should have tried the sidelines but still it was a makeable kick. That damn fumble inside the 10ish was a killer...

they haven't played for him all year...they aren't going to start now

the Packers are eliminated from playoff contention. I think AR is done for the year. They would be stupid to play him.

Why. He's healthy now. Should every player with a previous injury not play? Even if he gets hurt again it's not a career threatening injury. He'll have plenty of time to rest.

he was brought back earlier than almost any other player with that injury. Plus add in that it is his throwing shoulder. Although it was healed enough to play, the bone is not fully healed. It typically takes 12-16 weeks for it to fully heal.

The bottom line, they felt it was worth the risk to bring him back since they had a chance to make the playoffs. If they were eliminated prior to last week he would never have come back. The smart move is to shut him down.

That's because you're a Lions fan you want him to sit. But I don't much downside if he plays.

The Packers should tank for the best possible pick. Their season was trashed because of the Rodgers injury, might as well get something good out of it and come back even stronger next year.

Maybe we should tank too. Maybe pick 3-4 spots sooner.

I'm putting any bias aside and just thinking what I would do if I were them. They play MN this week and GB couldn't protect him last week.

That's the smart move and I'm 99% sure that's what they will do.

I'm pretty sure they're thinking spoilers.. Minny trying to get home field throughout and Detroit a WC spot. Plus sitting doesn't seem like it's something AR would do. And I believe AR is the one making the decision here..

You need to root for another team

I'm good. I've said it 90 times, I'll say it 91. I'm apathetic, I watch from a distance, and I'll invest my time when they decide they want to be a real organization. IE, getting rid of this coach. There's no reason for this team to win a meaningless game and force Quinn into keeping this guy around.

I did the same damn thing for Rich Rod when he was at Michigan. I was actively pulling for them to lose the bowl game against Miss State, because a win could have kept him around longer.

You don't get rewards for fandom. No one looks at the guy with the face paint and says "damn, that dude is a legit fan, I wish I was like him." I want this franchise to win, I've wanted that since I started watching at like 4 fucking years old. But I'm not going to give them my emotions until they prove themselves to be a real team.

A team that's won the SB and has been a force in the NFC for the better part of a decade is not thinking spoilers. That stuff is silly. They'd be dumb to play Rodgers now.

You always have something to play for.. I just can't see Rodgers sitting.
