Cabrera vs Trout

if MVP means who's the most valuable to their team, than Trout was a no show to the Angels until late April, mean wise Beast was winning games for the Tigers.

You want some stats as to why Cabrera wins?

How about down the stretch, when both teams were fighting for their playoff lives:

Trout's August: .294/.366/.500/.866 7 HR, 9 RBI

Cabrera's August: .357/.429/.663/.1.092 8 HR, 22 RBI

Trout's September: .257/.380/.455/.836 5 HR, 6 RBI

Cabrera's September: .308/.378/.654/1.036 10 HR, 27 RBI

That's why Cabrera is MVP, he carried his team to the playoffs, while Trout choked.

I look at the entire body of work....not just the end of the year. I think they are neck and neck.

It comes down to two things, imo. First, how many voters already had their mind made up in June. Second, Miggy is just Miggy and puts up numbers like this every year so "boring same old same ole."

The one thing which should be considered, it does for pitchers, the extra 20 plus games. The more PA even though Trout is top of the order. If you're going to count SB and stuff, count PA and games played.

Really? You think they're neck and neck?

Over at ESPN you keep telling people it's Trout by a mile and you would trade him for Cabrera in a heartbeat.

And while were looking at the whole body of work, can you honestly say Trout has been as valuable to his team as Cabrera has been to ours, because that's the award, who's more valuable.

I am pretty sure when I said Trout was ahead by a mile I was talking defensively. I did say I would trade Trout for Miggy in a heartbeat but taking salary into consideration. As far as the award.....I don't think anybody really knows what the award is for. Some may vote for a player based on his value to the team and some just base in on the player with the best stats on a good team while some just vote on the best offensive player in the league. As far as your question....yes....I do think they are neck and neck. Miggy is the better hitter but Trout is by far the better defensive player by a mile!

I think the real travesty is that we could have HAD trout if we had not drafted turner.

well I hope Our guys wins and i respect all of you who know the War thing way better then I do...One thing that bothers me is the stolen base factor.. i remember on our board and the ESPN board just a few short years ago when numbers guy's would say how over valued the stolen base is. Now for some reason it is a huge stat.. Well i think MC switching positions has to be taken into consideration. Miguel has exceeded expectations at third base and even hit better.... He has carried the team along with Prince and hopefully if the Angels fail to make the playoffs and we make it it will give some votes back to Miguel... if he wins the triple crown and losses the MVP it will be a joke..

Let Trout play 3B.

steals usually are really overvalued, but trout has stolen 48 bases to only 4 CS...an awesome %, one that doesnt hurt the team (I think the cutoff is like 85%?)

This is how I look at it: Trout has had the better overall year than Miggy factoring in defense, baserunning, etc. But noone will EVER convince me that he has been more Valuable to the Angels than Miggy has been to the Tigers. The Angels still have fucking Pujols ffs, and with the Angels and Tigers both fighting for playoff spots, Trout has fallen off hugely while Miggy has caught on fire.

Plus the writers still owe us for fucking Miggy out of the MVP when Coke-head won it after missing like fucking 2 months of the season, including sept.

I'm one of of those who think SB is overvalued though some don't. Better measure would be speed.

I know. I have heard that Trout was supposed to be the can't miss prospect but there was going to be a signability issue. That never stopped the Tigers before!

Let Miggy play CF!

Wasn't really the point I was trying to make. I know Trout is a better defensive player but to discount that Miggy went from first to third and didn't fail is impressive. 3B is not easy, especially when you're that big. Plus it didn't effect his hitting. Have Trout try to switch positions..

Oh...I didn't see what you were trying to say. I do give Miggy credit for moving to 3b but it's not like he moved to a position that he never played before and it's not like he is playing lights out over there (although I think he is better than I thought he would be).
