Game 3: Broncos @ Lions *Sunday Night* Thread

Here is my suggestion for head coach. Greg Roman. Took Kaepernick to a Super Bowl and has Tyrod Taylor looking like a guy they wouldn't trade straight up for Stafford.

Sorry. Tired of guys brought in to fix #9.

I don't know anything about Roman......so this isn't a shot at him........but unless he'll be a good head coach and not just another coordinator in over his head.....im out.

Id rather see someone in the mold of Belichick, Tomlin or Carroll. They aren't x's and o's guys necessarily......but they know how to discipline and motivate a team..... and then hire the guys who are x's and o's smart.

I am too, unfortunately the guy we are going to have the hardest time getting rid of is #9...see Cutler, Jay for reference. They are on what, their fifth coach tying to fix that guy?

Tired of guys trying to fix #9? Like who? Schwartz? Only time anybody was brought in to "fix" Stafford, was Caldwell and Lombardi. Other than that, he had a food nutrition specialist and an ex strength coach as his QB coaches.

Stafford is better than Cutler.....IMO. I still think he could be a good QB......but he is a system guy. Unfortunately, the results have been SO poor because he's not only limited in his mental ability.......he's in the completely wrong system for him.

Hence the piss poor results for the last 20 games.

I'd rather see the guy flinging it all over the field that was here in '11 - '13. But, Lombardi is too stupid to do that and the Oline is too bad to give him the time.

Stafford still gets the blame for his performance.......but this system is absolutely NOT the right one for him. That's on Caldwell and Joe.

And Mayhew for allowing the hires.

One is enough. That is my point.

Stafford is what he is. Trying to change him into something he isn't is asinine. It is.

Imagine getting married to a very independent, professional woman. Then, after 6 years of marriage.......waking up one day, rolling over and saying "hey, I want you to quit your job, stay home with the kids......and do the cooking/cleaning thing all day, OK"??

How do you think that would work?

That's what we're doing with Stafford.

Joe - "hey Matt.....no more gunslinger......short, accurate throws to our field stretching HOF WR is going to lead to success. Short out routes......dump downs....screens......OK??

Ready..... BREAK!!!!!

100% agree on the wrong system. Stafford doesn't look comfortable in this offense. It's boring. No deep shots unless you're Ebron and they predictably run the ball too much. Stafford is a gunslinger in the Brett Favre mold. Whatever it is that we're doing now isn't working....time for Lombardi to go.

I wonder where our resident village idiot is? He must still be breaking down the game film trying to find enough excuses for a "true win"

Being a gunslinger requires accuracy. Favre is probably the most famous "gunslinger", he was consistently in the top 10 and top 5 in terms of completion %.

It's not just going out there and throwing the ball hard, its being aggressive and accurate.

I think he said he's in Jamaica this week? So it's going to be a slow board.

Fun facts about Favre. His first NFL pass was an INT and his last NFL pass was an INT. His last pass with ATL, GB, NYJ & MN were all INTs.

Requires?? Where the fuck do you come up with this shit? lol. A gunslinger is a guy that takes chances and throws the ball all over the field regardless of position of the defenders. Favre is Favre.....nobody is saying that Stafford is capable of playing like Favre, but they're styles are the same. Stafford put up big numbers when he freelanced and took shots downfield. They don't do that anymore. Heneeds to go back to the old ways...

I was just reading a article and they were talking to one of the Broncos DBs. Basically, the lions offense was to vanilla and predictable.

I heard that this morning. He said that the plays were so simple that they basically knew what was coming most of the time. Pathetic!

Oh come on, there's nothing more intimidating than a really average, slow RB pounding the rock into the line on 1st down for a gain of 1.

This stat is not a joke.....on his current pace.....if Joique Bell got 250 carries this year, he would end up with....

275 yards.
On 250 carries!!

See you agree with me. That is the part the requires accuracy.

Also it's worth pointing out Staff also had one of his worst years (20 TDs and 17 INTs) when he was allowed to freelance.

I think what Tony and I are saying is that the "gunslinger" is more of a mentality than a physical trait.

Stafford seems to be overthinking everything.......which is bad for a quarterback.

What Favre seemed to be so good at was his ability to see it and throw it......almost at the same time. He didn't think......just threw. Which led to a lot of bad INT's.....but a lot of great TD's, too!

I'll take the 16 and 19 INT a year Stafford......if it comes with the 41 and 29 TD's too.

This 20 and 12 guy is not nearly as good!!!

Favre wasn't just some simply an ol' gunslinger who zipped it all over the field. He had attributes that Stafford severely lacks, the biggest one is pocket awareness and mobility. When a play broke down, Favre knew exactly what to do. Our guy holds onto the ball like it owes him money.
