Hoops vs MSU

This is a good point. Basketball and hockey, to me, are less important than football by a great deal. I don't watch most games, so it impacts me more if I'm going to talk to someone about it. Most of my life, that's generally meant talking to a Spartan. So the Michigan-MSU rivalry is bigger within those sports even though it's a smaller deal overall. I'd take ANY win in football over almost any regular season win in basketball.

also, as I said in another post - there's a lot less on the line when you play each other in hoops or hockey. Don't we play each other in hockey at least 4 times every year?

Maybe I am the smartest poster to this here board.

Most of us can't even convey our points of view with sufficient clarity to avoid people coming back with misunderstandings. Meanwhile, you're expressing yourself artfully.

The comparisons to football are meaningless.

Well, let's not get carried away or I'll be tempted to make more comparisons between basketball and football. Like we could consider the possibility of all this UNC and Duke basketball talk having something to do with being accustomed to unevenly-reciprocal rivalries thanks to football.

It's the softball rivalry I'm worried about most of this year-those Ladies of Sparta are beasts!

That Circe, man she can hurl flames!

this thread blows now.

picture the spartan fans all in a line arguing that they "aren't butthurt" over going 0-2 to Michigan... while standing there with sore asses, holding those donut shaped hemorrhoid cushions old people with ass problems use.

But...but...I just made a Game of Thrones analogy in reference to the softball rivalry!

Technically, this thread should be just taking off!!

Circe is from Westeros, not Sparta. Queen Gorgo was from Sparta but few people remember her for that - I had to look that up on IMDB where I also learned it's spelled "Cersei" not "Circe". I also learned that Cersei is from House Lannister in the city-state of Casterly Rock in Westeros sort of like Queen Gorgo is from the city-state of Sparta in ancient Greece - but not at all the same.

The actress also played a Spartan, but he's probably talking about the goddess/witch.

yeah, i added that tidbit to my post. I also thought he was making a reference to the goddess at first but I no longer do unless there was another Game of Thrones reference that I missed - plus the goddess is a Greek goddess but I don't think she's from Sparta, so technically not a Spartan.

That's pretty bad reading on my part. Not a move a smartest guy on the board would make.

Yes.

Circe was voice recognition auto text.

Was close enough for me.

The beautiful Lena Headey is both Queen Cesei (she's queen now) of Westeros and also Queen
Gorgo of the ancient city/state of Sparta, both simultaneously and at the same time.

So now I'm waiting for your story about Lena Headey about how you go to the same dry cleaner or how you dated her sister or whatever it's going to turn out to be.

Nope sorry.

She's from England and I'm pretty sure she has always lived there.

ha, I was going to respond that if he ever ran into her at the dog park he would now have lots to talk about - although, he'd have rely solely on the dog connection since he doesn't have the Spartan thing to fall back on...

Within a few months ago, I did run into the beautiful LeeAnn Tweeden...not at a dog park, but at a LA KABC 790 remote she was doing with the great Doug McIntyre, with whom she does the morning drive...and yes, we both have beautiful white shepherd mix dogs, and we did talk about our dogs...

Not related to Sparta, but another Westerosian, Darius Targarian, Cersei's rival to the iron throne (why do so many of the powerful want to sit on it? It's pretty much a glorified bus stop bench) can bring the heat like maybe no other chick in history...

Again, never a Spartan, but she has also been the iconic Sarah Conner...not many actresses can make that claim...

Did I ever tell the story about when I was confused with being an extra on site for an episode of The Office ...? It was shot at the very same Woodland Hills Marriott that Tinsel and I have met at for a few cold ones. I had a Facebook 'memory' pop up the other day from a post I made, with a picture of Creed Bratton reading his script in the lobby during a break. Pam ...aka, Jenna Fischer had her real life baby with her who kept looking at me with baby googly eyes and smiles ..."Pam" walked over and said hello and I met her and her baby girl. Had a short chat with Dwight Schrute in the lobby as well..

It was the episode with the silent auction where Dwight thought it was a contest more so than a fund raiser and he 'won' every auction ..adopting pets.

it was funny.

Oh, and Andy Buckley ...aka, David Wallace, is in real life (was) a Merrill Lynch financial advisor in the Century City office.

He's no longer with Merrill Lynch, btw.
