If the Lions rebound and make the playoffs, should Schwartz still be fired?

LOL that 2 point was perfect throw backshoulder. Calvin played it wrong and should have stopped and jumped. Easy TD. Not way out of bounds LOL

Look who it's coming from. Mitch probably never even watched the fn game. Even Heath Evans from the NFL Network said CJ misplayed it and said it would have been close for fuck sakes lol

The assessments on here by some people drives me bonkers. They just have an agenda and say generic shit. I don't care if you are negative on the Lions, just back up your argument instead of generically blaming the coaches and QB. Saying Stafford is off the majority of time is incorrect. Plus assuming he's bailed out on alot of his completions. That's the annoying part.

Time to draft Johnny Football I guess!!!

Ok LKP all drops are on the receiver :/ (not really)

What about all the over throws?
Matt is either in a major slump this year or he is regressing.

I can recall two for sure that would have been TD's....
Matt has had a lot more the two over throws this year...

Not all drops are on the WR but if it hits you in the fn hands you better catch it. I don't care if he's gunning it 100mph or lofting up a rainbow. This is the NFL

He's not regressing. He's in a slump. He's played terribly for 5 games, that doesn't mean he's regressed.

Ok I can buy that a tiny bit but when you factor in the over throws and happy feet and poor decisions Matt is either not taking coaching well or he is both in a slump and regressing a tad.. You just can't have it both ways... If he did not have as many over throws I could agree with you T. This 5 game slump probably cost us a division title that was gift wrapped.. He has to many poor INT's to really say he has not taking a step back in his development this year.
I say regressed but I do not mean I want him benched or anything.. But he has to own his mistakes and improve... Matt looks lost lately..

Not all drops are on receivers but alot are. Hence the name drop. Not all other incompletions are on the QB either. Stafford could make a great throw in tight coverage and its the receivers fault he didn't get enough separation or didn't run the route properly.

Like I've said 7 of 16 incompletions were his fault. 2 of the picks now with a tipped ball just being a great play.

Both ways? I agree that he's slumping, man. Slumping hugely and at the wrong time so it looks worse. And his INT's have skyrocketed over the last 5 games as well. He had it somewhat under control before that, right? His brain is all scatterfucked right now. His mechanics are off and he needs some tweaking. He'll bounce back. I refuse to believe that he's regressed ...

Then he has tuned out coaching then.. No matter what we say Matt has taken a step back and really if we lose this division the blames lays with Jim and Matt at the top of the list..
If we could take back one INT we would be leading the division.. (Tampa Bay)
I mean Baltimore had Matt Rattled...

From now into the end of his career Staff might have a top 10 season but he's not a top ten QB. I haven't brought it up and Matt does throw it quickly but he doesn't seem to read his progressions. He locks onto one target, he either throws it too him or sees he's covered and goes to the safety back.

You can't prove what progressions he does and does not go through. Some routes are decoy routes too. Some are hot reads when he knows a blitz is coming. He really doesn't get alot of routes jumped. There a few, Bucs pick 6 for example but not many given his attempts.

Lions are done in my opinion.

There is enough talent on this team to be a contender. I think about what would this team be if they were more disciplined? What would they look like with a coach like Jon Gruden, Brian Billick, or a Jimmy Johnson ? Heck, even Lovie Smith would be a solid choice. Swartz is a defensive coordinator at best, but in all reality a good defensive line coach. Lions need to step up to the plate and get a real coach and I assume the good ones available would love to take this team over considering the talent they have.

Asked if it was a coaching problem, Tulloch said, ?No. We are very prepared every week. We just have to zone in and we can?t get lackadaisical.?

?You want to be efficient,? he said. ?However you look at it, you need to execute on the field. If you drop a pass or make a mistake, you can classify it however you want, as discipline, you can classify it as whatever, but you did not execute what you needed to execute.

?I think that?s the bottom line in the NFL.?

What do expect him to say? There is a reason many players are being asked this..

?If you are looking for a coach to guide you and correct you in each and every moment, you?re in the wrong sport. You have to be able to discipline yourself. We have to be able to discipline ourselves. We have to be able to make plays when the plays are there to be made. When we watch film, we have to be more critical on ourselves than any coach could.?-Suh

He is saying the truth. Players aren't executing and losing focus just a little bit each game across the board.

Schemes are good, players are behind them. Replacing the coach doesn't fix this. And the players are too talented to replace. The players just need better focus for a handful more plays.

And a coach needs to get in their face. If you insist it's the players then we need new players.
