Is Stafford a top 5 QB?

how about just use your damn brain...idc if he won super bowls..its easier to do so when you have a top 5 defense every year since you've been in the league..and a top running game/back....your talkin about a guy who has broken 20 td passes 3 times in 8 years....

Funny...the guy telling me to use my brain is also putting down Stafford in the top 5 after ONE season.

THIS YEAR. People are getting it all twisted. He's not a Top 5 QB of ALL TIME but he's sure playing like one in 2011. Is he not? His numbers are proving it. His come from behind victories have been legendary as well.....

I'm a little late, but There was talk about dropped passes when comparing GB vs Det:

8th:Green Bay: 25 Drops
8th:Detroit: 25 Drops

Big Plays (25+ Yards completions)
1st:Green Bay: 37
8th:Detroit: 33

YAC:
3rd: Green Bay:1944
4th: Detroit:1942

i know lol...stafford seems to be really good at playaction also...for as often as he's thrown the ball...his comp % isn't all that bad i don't think...(i didn't realize how bad eli's is until i looked it up lol)

Hey, don't knock on Eli. He's having his best year as a pro to date. And i'm a Giants fan too.... ;)

lol i know...but a stretch against seattle, arizona, buffalo, washington, miami, st louis, and a vickless philly team certainly helps..

because the question was top 5 now not top 5 careers was it?..this year? i think he's playing like a top 5er..probably 5th behind rodgers/brees/brady/romo

Top 5 for me = combination of career achievements, meaningful stats, playoff performances, and year to year consistency.

I fail to see the point of making a list of QBs for one year only unless we're talking purely from a fantasy standpoint.

I hate that argument. He doesn't make the schedule, man...he just plays the game, right?

Tampa Bay, KC? Why?

If we're talking for one year only (which is stupid), then I would have

Rodgers
Brees
Brady

Romo

Stafford
Eli

they had two of the weakest schedules last year..lol and now they suck/mediocre..reminds me of our last 7-9 season...first half was cupcakes..second half was all playoff teams instead of 1

Ok, i gotcha...had a brainfart there..lol.

I see the running game being used as an excuse for stafford. I get it and all. But if they had a good running game, he wouldn't be throwing the ball 600 times this year. His yards and tds would be down. And would lose some redzone tds.

Not really an excuse it was in response to you trying to diminish because he has Calvin Johnson.

You are the one that brought up fictional things to try to take away, even though it can not be proved. So I personally was just bringing up another point.

They would be able to use the play action effectively and his completion percentage would be higher when the defense preps for the run. I don't think his numbers would drop that much.

Ummm, no excuse. They don't have a running game...it doesn't exist. Clue in.

The point is, he's doing it WITHOUT a running game. Get it? Opposing defenses are concentrating on their passing attack because our RB's don't scare anybody.

Jesus christ. Ok not excuse, a reason. You guys are pretty sensative.

And the running game was working vs green bay, yet I didn't see very many deep passes.

I don't think he would put up the same numbers throwing the ball 100 times less. Just my opinion

We're a testy bunch, man. Comes with being a Lions fan for 30+ years. Well, that's my excuse anyways....

A shocking stat to me. Lions avg 4.3yrds rushing. So they aren't as bad as they seem at it. They just don't do it.

Also. Giants have the worst rushing attack, but Eli is having his best season. Explain that one lol
