I have watched some Johns Jr High school games. I think we will be really good next year.. Hope so!!

I think Johns will be much better when he gets moved to the 4. He seems really out of position at the 5. With Castleton emerging as a legit backup, he can move back to his more natural position.

No but I did speak with his venture capital partner Robert who grew up in Columbus. He’s a bit younger and said his Dad is a huge buckeye fan but he sort of leans Maize & Blue ...he was a kid during the Fab 5 era.

First of all let me preface this by saying that we all love JB here, so I really don't understand why we're having a big circle jerk over the few minor points of contention people at times bring up with him. They are just opinions after all.

Count me in the group that doesn't like the auto-bench philosophy. I do believe that a coach should be able to observe the happenings of a game and be able to make a decision that goes against his usual M.O. if the situation calls for it. And if you want a game that I thought it was an issue it was the Iowa loss with Jon Teske playing only 13 minutes. Iowa blitzed us on the inside in the first half and we fell behind and couldn't fully recover. I mentioned it in the game thread I believe. This is not to say that move directly led to the loss, but not having him out there hurt us pretty badly there's no question.

I will end by saying, this is not a huge issue. I wouldn't trade JB for any other coach out there. Love the guy. I just differ with him on that front, as I'm sure others do too. No biggie.

Now I know that you don't like the auto-bench philosophy. You've told us this over and over for about 4 months now in almost every thread involving basketball.

I did mention that there was one game, must've been the @Iowa game where it "might" have been an issue, so that is 1 game out of 30 that it MIGHT have been an issue. Yet, this subject has come up in every single basketball thread for 4 months now. It's old!!

I have some really nice rocks out front as part of my landscaping. They are pretty and in the summer months they really accentuate my yard with the trees, flowers, and ornaments that we have out there. Now 4 months ago, I decided that these rocks should be made out of gold and I've gone outside every day for the last 4 months and wished really hard that they would change to gold. They'd be so much prettier and I could retire from my job. They aren't changing to gold, though. I'm so disappointed in these stupid rocks. Now imagine that we are all part of a landscaping message board and I get on this message board and talk about how my rocks should change to gold. I've been posting about it every day for the last 4 months. You're pretty tired of the subject now, especially because it is crazy for me to think that the rocks are actually going to change. You tell me that the rocks aren't going to change and I respond madly, "Well, it is my opinion that they should. Aren't I entitled to my opinion?"

I just think it's nuts. If you all want to be nuts, go for it. I'm just going to point out every now and then that I think you're all nuts.

I've been pretty quiet on the issue since the PSU game, but I finally couldn't stand it again yesterday, so I voiced my opinion. Guess I should only do that if I agree with certain people. Wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

LOL I wish i was paid for coaching basketball. But sadly I only have you guys to talk to, and vent. He could learn alot from a 5'8 power forward with a 10 inch vertical like me!!!! I locked guys down on defense with my tapped up ankles !!

I like how the last 2 games Poole has taken it to heart to try and not be out of control as much on offense.. I have heard he was really mad at himself after the Msu game after watching the film. I just hate it when the offense falls in love with the three when we all know they have a few guys that can break guys down and get to the rim. I guess we have to live with because even though we were all mad at Teske starting 0-5 from three at Maryland his coach still wanted him to take that shot and he did in fact hit a dagger.

But you are right we were all mad at JB about the defense a few years back, and he went out and fixed it. In think we were all mad during the msu game because whatever we were trying was not working. Kudos to Izzo for having Winston play his best game against Simpson. I love our defense but sometimes wish we would throw something else at teams every now and then just to keep them guessing.

A few little things to discuss.
Why does Mathews take a step back on some of his drives to the bucket and make his shot harder. You guys all know what I am talking about. I sure hope his ankle heals.. I really feel that Poole could score a lot more if he drives to the buket more he is so fast.
Man the 10-15 foot jumper!!! Team needs to find a few of these!!

Yep, Poole has been more under control since the MSU game. He played really well in the Nebraska game and, although, he didn't have a lot of stats in the @Maryland game, I thought he was solid.

Sometimes you just have to do what JB did in his press conference and tip your cap to MSU. They played a helluva game.

Yes. It irritate me how Matthews steps away from the basket. Sometimes he tries a stepback 6 footer instead of flying and jamming it home like we know he can. He's been like that for 2 years, though. I just wander sometimes if he can play with enough aggression. I hope his ankle heals, too and I didn't mean to imply otherwise when i said that Michigan might be OK without him against MSU. The team played really well for 2 games without him, so there is that. I know he is a great defender, but Livers seems to do offense more consistently than Matthews and I don't know that he is that much of a drop-off from Matthews defensively. I definitely want Matthews to be 100% before going out there. Michigan really needs him for both the BTT and the NCAAT.

The midrange jumper seems to be a thing of the past. Teske will try one every now and then and sometimes make it. Matthews will try them every now and then and when he is hot, he'll hit them. Doesn't happen often enough for me, though.

I think everyone loves SImpson's sky hook, although it gets tiring hearing about it from all of the different commentators. We know about it by now. They act like it's this brand new thing that they have to dissect every single time he does it, just like they still point out that Matthews is the Kentucky transfer.

I think Castleton has his role. He will spell Teske for about 10 minutes per game. That seems to be enough for now.

I agree. It might take him an entire offseason playing at the 4 to readjust. i think they've been practicing him at the 5 all season.

I have been talking about how this thread was good until UMrules06, Dubbsco, and Bob made it into another "bitch about the same little things that we think JB does wrong that we've harped on and on about for months now" session and completely disregard how successful he's been doing at what he's doing.

UMrules06 admitted that maybe his complaining about the auto-bench is just a little thing and no big deal.

Bob even mentioned some good things about the team for the first time in 3 months and then again complained about some things that he's complained about 3,000 times, but that's Bob. He complains about things and I complain that he is complaining.

Dubbs is still mad that I have the audacity to disagree with him and that I think his viewpoint is silly and that I agree with Coach B. He can be mad if he wants.

This isn't you, so why do you keep interjecting yourself into this disagreement?
