IT'S ON!!!......For the Championship

Then Dubbs mentioned how he'd have Zavier harass Winston up and down the court the entire game in an effort to wear him down.

That's a fine suggestion. I don't think JB will do it and I mentioned that.

All I said about that is that I wouldn't expect JB to make wholesale changes on what has worked the entire season for one game and Dubbs blew up on me. Oh well!

OK then. We agree! so What are you and I talking about?

I have been talking about how this thread was good until UMrules06, Dubbsco, and Bob made it into another "bitch about the same little things that we think JB does wrong that we've harped on and on about for months now" session and completely disregard how successful he's been doing at what he's doing.

UMrules06 admitted that maybe his complaining about the auto-bench is just a little thing and no big deal.

Bob even mentioned some good things about the team for the first time in 3 months and then again complained about some things that he's complained about 3,000 times, but that's Bob. He complains about things and I complain that he is complaining.

Dubbs is still mad that I have the audacity to disagree with him and that I think his viewpoint is silly and that I agree with Coach B. He can be mad if he wants.

This isn't you, so why do you keep interjecting yourself into this disagreement?

I am disagreeing with their criticism. You and I aren't disagreeing, so we're good.

Perfectly fine to disagree. Hell, it's healthy. I just don't like coming at those guys and telling them what they can/should or can't/shouldn't post.

They can post whatever they want and you, me, anyone else can offer our alternative opinion.

I think I got some guidelines that make sense here:

1) It's okay to disagree, but if your opinions/criticisms/recommendations turn out to be wrong, AND you still keep making them, you are deserving of not only ridicule, but you deserve to be called cruel and derogatory names until you shut up, or stop posting and go away

2) if you're going to call someone out for continuously wrong criticism, make sure you got the right guy (or girl).

Yep. You and I agree on #1

I only got the guy wrong, because that guy was sticking up for the other guys that I feel fell into the #1 category and I didn't understand why he would do that unless he agreed with them.

As far as the movie director thing. I would never give advice to an extremely successful movie director. That would just be silly. I would never post that advice 1,000 times on a message board and have other people read it. That would be silly.

Now an unsuccessful movie director? Well, he'd be fair game, because we'd be on equal footing

I never ever said that fans are dumb and know nothing about football or basketball like Dubbs accused me of saying. I did mention that us fans on the message board don't know nearly as much as the head coach of the MIchigan football team and we don't know nearly as much as the head coach of the highly successful Michigan basketball team. The basketball coach is probably one of the greatest basketball minds in basketball today. Why in the world would I think that i would be even remotely qualified to advise him on what he should tell his team to do on gameday? That sounds crazy to me and I will say as much to others.

I have no idea what Dubbs does for a living. I don't even know if he is good at what he does. I would certainly not go to a message board about his profession and give him advice on how he does his job. Well, I might if he is a corrections officer, but I do not think that he is.

Just like I think it would be completely silly for Coach Beilein and/or Dubbs to advise me on how to run a housing unit full of prisoners in a prison and it would certainly be silly for them to go to a corrections officer message board and post about how I do my job wrong and how I should do it better. I'm sure they might have their opinions after watching me on the job, but their opinions just wouldn't have that much validity and I would hope that someone would tell them that if they did try to offer criticism of my ability to do my job.

Actually, I am pretty good at what I do (Education), but I ALWAYS welcome people from outside offering me their perspective, regardless of whether or not I have been in the profession 1 month or 1 decade. It helps me learn what I can and cannot improve. So you and I have a fundamental disagreement on the workplace, which is fine. People who do things for so long and don't accept other people from the outside offering words is why companies get stuck and fail to get better. Shit, that is exactly why Beilein completely re-worked his defensive game plan and hired some dude to basically tell him what he needs to change.

So, since it is not realistic for me to contact Beilein unless I emailed him, this is the only way I can offer my opinion from my point of view as a fan, no more no less.

Nothing I said is "blowing up on you." I just find it pretty silly that you have to constantly remind people that we are inferior to Beilein and our view on the game is irrelevant. I'm completely, 100 percent aware of that. That's why this is a sports message board and we are here to talk.

Plus, I think there is an old saying about saying what you have to say once and being done with it.

People are certainly allowed to say the same thing 1,000 times over and over with no effect, but I do not know why they would want to do that and I might mention that I know how they feel and that they no longer need to repeat themselves after the first 500 times. If they really want to say it 500 more times, then I guess that is their prerogative, but that shit does get kind of old.

I'm glad we are having this conversation.

instead of making the same argument over and over again, you can just add it to your signature here by clicking the "USER CP" tab in the menu below the Detroit Sports Forum logo.

Then we can all read it. if one wanted to emphasize the point, you could add the date to your signature line so everyone can see how long you've been making the point.

Excellent idea. Then I could ignore it, like I do most posters' signature lines.

Now, i do have the right guy and it probably irritated him when I said whoopdeedoo to how Wolverines24 mentioned that he played basketball.

He mentioned that these others might have a better perspective than I do, because maybe they played basketball "like him," implying that I did not. Now I did not play basketball at any high level. Quite frankly, no insult intended to anyone here, I do not think that anyone on this message board played basketball or coached basketball on a high enough level that makes that experience relevant to a discussion about the ability of Coach B to coach and how he should coach.

I did, however, shoot several paper trash balls right into the trash can today from a respectable distance.

I'm going to try to figure out how to do this.

I did visit my profile, though and saw that it has had 3,259 visits. I have no idea why. The profile really holds no information.

Missed this at first. I don't think JB completely reworked his defensive game plan, because fans or any other outsider advised him to. I think he realized it on his own and made his own decision. I guess we have no idea what really happened, though.

You find it silly that I remind people that their advice to JB is invalid and I find it silly that people choose to go to an anonymous message board and post their advice to JB. I guess we're even, which I already said. You won't stop, so I guess I won't stop.

I already stated that I think there are thousands of other things we can discuss on a sports message board than what we would advise the coach to do on gameday and many posters post thousands of posts without doing so, which proves my point. I even listed several posters that never post advice to JB and still talk about basketball. I feel we are revisiting several points here, though, so I'll take my own advice about it.

Well, I changed my signature, but i can't see it. is this something that only other posters can see?

Edit: Oh there it is, I guess it will be on new posts going forward.

I was given a spot on Ball State's team if I wanted it. Turned it down because I knew being a walk-on who only practiced and never played would have made me crazy. I continued to practice with the team every summer because I liked the guys and they wanted me there.

So yeah. I didn't suck.

so you played high school basketball...

never said you sucked.

I'm not really sure why you're so offended by this whole issue. No one here has ever implied they are even close to being near the level of JB. JB is brilliant and one of the best.

I remember when this and the ESPN board were nothing but pissing and moaning about football coaches. We never knew more than Dick Rod or Hoke, but no one had any issue with it.

So maybe it's the years and years of pissing and moaning that's setting you off about this. That makes sense to me. Kind of like the years and years of football disappointing has me with no expectations anymore.

Yes and was good enough to be asked to be on a D-1 team.

I'm not trying to downplay your basketball experience, but when someone states they played basketball, I was expecting actual college basketball playing experience. You may have been asked to walk on, but you only played high school basketball. Did you receive any scholarship offers whatsoever? Even if you did, you freely admit you did not play college basketball, so you don't know what it's like to have played college basketball. I don't either.

I had plenty of offers from smaller schools, but didn't want to go to any of them.

Gameplay, nope no idea. The best I can do there is that I've played against D-1 guys in practice plenty of times.

Criticism of Rich Rod and Hoke was legit. They sucked.

Criticism of Ellerbe and Amaker was legit. They sucked

JB is nothing like them. He's awesome.

Offended is pushing it. Irritated by it would be more accurate. People saying it once or twice wouldn't be an issue, but as I said, they've been posting it nonstop for 4 months. It pollutes every single basketball thread. Shit is old.

I used to play some CMU players at the rec sometimes. Fun stuff, but we were just messing around. They had me trying to go against some 6' 10" 250 pound dude. Was extremely difficult.
