Let's go get REVIS!!!!!!

So you agree the lions fail in the late rounds, but claim that is no different than other teams.

Yet you also say the lions lack depth and the way to get depth is in the late rounds.

I'm confusedbhere becausr all those other teams that you claim the lions are equivalent to are able to make the playoffs because they have depth. How can they have depth if they are no better than the lions? How can they make the playoffs more frequently than the lions and win far more playoff games???

Making the playoffs, winning playoff games, and winning the super bowl are things all these other teams are capable of doing....but not the lions. So where is the problem then?

Oh right...there is no problem. Despite all evidence to the contrary, this team will win next year, make the playoffs, win in the playoffs, even be legit super bowl contenders. All that despite the lack of depth, the cap that prevents landing stud FAs or even re-signing the same guys from last year let alone better talent, and the lions historically poor draft selections.

Awesome! Lkp talks about how great the lions are and projects an upcoming 8-8 year! Fucking fantastic!!!!

Stafford,Calvin,Broyles,Burleson, Pettigrew,Scheffler,LeShoure, Bell, Sims,Reiff,Gosder or Backus can lead this team to the playoffs in 2013 season on offense.

Suh,Fairley,Tulloch,Delmas(once re-signed),Houston(once re-signed),Bentley can lead this team to the playoffs in 2013 season on defense. Bartell, Green, Palmer, Lewis, Whitehead and Carey can contribute as well.

Give me a top 5 DE, Round 2 DB and Guard in the draft. And figure out change of pace speed back(5th round or free agency) and speed WR (Devery Henderson) in free agency.

Enough of the doom and gloom. This team is loaded with talent. They won't underperform again.

Only a few additions and this team will win 10 games next year....you must be smoking some gooood weed!

What are all these teams you thinking about? There are a bunch of teams that suck year in and year out. Cleveland is one, Rams and Bills. Now have those teams had more success since '57 than the Lions, yeah, but they are all in playoff win droughts as well.

about 5-6 years ago it seemed we were constantly right around the level of the cardianls and 49ers. Cardinals had some good years at the end of warners career and then started to go down hill after not being able to recover from ever losing kurt. 49ers built alot of their defense and offense thru smart draft and FA decisions and have been solid for a couple years now and dont look like they will be any worse anytime soon with a rising star in kaep. Lions....are still at the bottom of the barrel and had 1 lucky season where they pulled a bunch of 4th quarter miracle wins out of their asses. They still dont draft well, they dont sign any free agents, have a semi serious cap situation, a shit ton of free agents. With all the parity that there is in the NFL.....its the GMs fault when you constantly suck.

They'll be much better than 8-8 if they hit on a DE and safety and Stafford gets back on track. 10 or more

ummm IFFFFFF they get a DE and a safety our defense will look like this:

New DE LKP is dreaming about
fairley
suh
unknown DE
unknown OLB
Tulloch
unknown OLB
Bartell
Bentley
New safety LKP is dreaming about
unknown safety

That's a minimum of 4 more spots to fill ontop f your dream DE and S and that's ONLY if he rolls with shitty cbs. Aka....keep dreaming about your de and safety but guess what....our defense will still blow.

I don't understand how people can honestly believe that we have no cap to work with. Even the casual fans know that we have to much money tied up in older vets. Cutting Backus, Peterman, Raiola, and KVB frees up over $16 million alone. Add that to the plans of extending Stafford and reducing his cap number from $20 millions to maybe $10. Burleson has said he'd take a pay cut to stay in Detroit. There's plenty of room under the cap to improve the team.

We are only a couple players away from being contenders again. Look at how many close games we played, Colts, Houston, GB, Minnesota, Chicago 2x. Our biggest weakness wasn't our corners, it was the safeties that couldn't locate the ball. If we're able to get a stud DE in the first and a safety in the second, we'll be right back in the mix in our division. Leshoure showed a lot of promise and will be another year removed from his Achilles injury, Levy won't command much on the open market so he'll be back, Delmas won't go anywhere with his injury history, and we can recover easier losing our top DEs do to the system that we run. Everette Brown was showing good promise do to the wide 9 for god sakes.

You assume Backus and Peterman and Crayola get cut. If I had to guess, I'd say all 3 are here in 2013.

you do know when you cut guys , you take a cap hit .

not to mention if you cut guys youre just adding to the list of holes you need to fill. This is a GM that has signed KVB nate and tulloch as FA starters since hes took over.....thats it....and you want to put him into a position where he magically needs to find over 11+ starters in the same year? ya....i dont think hes cutting anyone.

mayhew has to cut someone..my number one candidate to be cut is kvb..10 mil for basically a guy who performed like he shouldn't even be on an nfl roster does not cut it..you can replace him with ronnell lewis and probably get the same production at this point..i agree you can't just cut guys who still produce though..burleson needs to take a cap hit.or else he will have to be let go also..it's moreso about cutting old vets who are on the decline and you could replace their production easily with much cheaper options...so yes..i believe someone will get cut

I'll be surprised if KVB isn't back at a reduced rate. This team can't let anyone go coach or player. Gunther and Jim Washburn are some kind of co-coordinators, Titus young treats the FO like Rick James treats Charlie Murphy, and most of our high priced FAs are washed up or nearly washed up, but they are all 'willing' to come back at a reduced rate (no shit like they would be on any other teams roster if they weren't here, let alone a starter). 4-12, 10-6, doesn't matter. Change and Detroit Lions are antitheses.

I think Mayhew already started to process of replacing Peterman or Raiola by picking up Bill Nagy and placing him on IR. I don't think Mayhew could have thought KVB would hit the wall as hard as he did, he may even retire and save us more against the cap. Backus is suddenly an injury risk, last year he tore his bicep in NO, and this past season he missed a game do to a hamstring injury and played average throughout the year. Whitehead has spent a year learning the system, I doubt they try to bring back both Levy and Durant, they'll replace one of them in house.

As far as the cap hits we'll take for cutting these guys, I only included the money we'd save.

you still have 2 DEs, 2 OLBs, 2 CBs and 2 S's to worry about before you start cutting guys like backus.

Young and LoJack, boom roasted. Whitehead and Lewis, boom roasted. Greenwood, Green, Bentley, boom roasted. Resign Delmas and Spievey, boom roasted. Mayhew is a genius, boom...well you get the point.

You don't need a good starter at every position to compete. You make it sound like we need all new starters or else we'll win only 4 games again. Couple new on D and one more OL and I'd be happy.

but you do realize that if you put out the defense cheeno sarcastically posted.....we will be challenging the 0-16 team for the worst team on the planet....ever. We had the worst defense and worst offense in the division last year. If we dont not only resign some of our hacks.....but improve upon them....we will still be worst in the division.

edit...not to mention i hope you realize we have NO STARTERS on the current roster at those positions. They are all free agents and im assuming KVB gets cut or takes a reduced salary and is demoted to rotational run stop guy on 1st down..
