so youre assuming not only that a DE falls to 5 but that mayhew will pick him. That a "stud" safety is miraculously sitting there in round 2. Then youre assuming not only that delmas, durant and houston want to be here but that Mayhew pays them. Bartell is good enough to start eventhough not a single team wanted him in 2012 except us. Lewis/Whitehead are worth a shit. ANNNNNNND that willie young gets coached up and miraculously becomes a solid starter on the edge....which he showed no signs of being that guy in 2012. Man....you sure are a man of faith lol.
Houston and Delmas do want to be here. Delmas is a team leader and top priority and both deserve to get paid what they are worth. Houston has hit free agency before and come back so you lose that argument. No reason to think Durant wants to leave either and LBs are cheap. One of Levy or Durant will be back.
It is very possible for a DE to be there at 5 with Werner and Moore. Delmas is a stud safety that fell to Round 2. That is where good safeties usually good end of Round 1, early Round 2. This draft is deep at safety, Reid, Vaccaro, Matt Elam, TJ McDonald. There will be a good safety there in Round 2 to pair with Delmas. If there is no DE, you take Milliner to pair with Houston and get a DE in Round 2 in deep class for that as well.
LMFAO that Whitehead and Lewis are worthless. They were rookies, they can develop and play in Levy's spot. If not I know Ashlee Palmer can. I've seen it in the Seahawks and Jags game in 2012. No worries at OLB.
The other DE spot is the only spot I'm worried about. Willie Young could return to 2011 form or a guy like Idonije would help this team alot. We'll see if he wants to be a Bear and what he gets. 1 year 2.5 million was his deal last year. Avril was very average last year, terrible in run defense and KVB was the worst DE in the league last year. Young would be a step up from KVB. A stud DE would go along way with Fairley and Suh doing the heavy lifting.
Bartell played a solid game Week 17. We'll see on him and Bentley is a talented 2nd year player
This team has more talent than you think. The 9 back breaking turnover and 4 special teams TDs from coverage that was fixed made it look worse than it is. Top 5 defense like the first 10 games of 2011 is on the table with those moves. Sorry to burst your hater bubble. Alot of work to do but the Lions have talent on D.
