Let's go get REVIS!!!!!!

but you do realize that if you put out the defense cheeno sarcastically posted.....we will be challenging the 0-16 team for the worst team on the planet....ever. We had the worst defense and worst offense in the division last year. If we dont not only resign some of our hacks.....but improve upon them....we will still be worst in the division.

I don't believe a team with Staff and CJ will ever not win a game, regardless the other short comings. Just by themselves we'd luck into a win or two.

edit...not to mention i hope you realize we have NO STARTERS on the current roster at those positions. They are all free agents and im assuming KVB gets cut.

They're not going to let them all go. This team doesn't even come close to the 0-16 team.

ummm IFFFFFF they get a DE and a safety our defense will look like this:

New DE LKP is dreaming about
fairley
suh
unknown DE
unknown OLB
Tulloch
unknown OLB
Bartell
Bentley
New safety LKP is dreaming about
unknown safety

That's a minimum of 4 more spots to fill ontop f your dream DE and S and that's ONLY if he rolls with shitty cbs. Aka....keep dreaming about your de and safety but guess what....our defense will still blow.

Delmas, Durant and Houston will be back.

Stud top 5 DE
Fairley
Suh
Willie Young or FA De
Durant
Tulloch
Lewis/Whithead
Houston
Bartell
Bentley
Delmas
Stud Second Round Safety

Top 5 Defense

so youre assuming not only that a DE falls to 5 but that mayhew will pick him. That a "stud" safety is miraculously sitting there in round 2. Then youre assuming not only that delmas, durant and houston want to be here but that Mayhew pays them. Bartell is good enough to start eventhough not a single team wanted him in 2012 except us. Lewis/Whitehead are worth a shit. ANNNNNNND that willie young gets coached up and miraculously becomes a solid starter on the edge....which he showed no signs of being that guy in 2012. Man....you sure are a man of faith lol.

more than likely one of the top DE's will fall to us...i'm not willing to rule jarvis jones out until combineish time...every team will do heavy duty medical work on him and that will determine most of it...i think the only way i go jarvis though..is if werner, moore, and joeckel are all gone...don't be surprised to see some qb risers...they always do at the top of the draft lately..especially with this rookie qb fad that has been happening..i can see 2 of the durant delmas and houston returning...not sure who...we don't know how good bentley will be..so thats a ?..lions don't need a top 5 defense to be successful...they need to shore up the offense..and have a solid defense...which would be well on its way if we managed to snag one of those pass rushers..because our interior rush was already possibly the best in the nfl last year..

You do realize our offense scored less points than minnesota last year....right? We tried the whole "lets roll with these guys on defense and just outscore our opponents" in 2012....it only worked 4 times. I cant even recall a comfortable win all year last year. So ya....im not as comfortable as you with just "shore up the offense and grab a DE and we'll be fine" when theres THAT MANY holes on our defense and you guys are talking about just simply resigning alot of the same guys that sucked last year.

ps....jarvis jones is a 3-4 olb. If we play another one of those in the wide 9 for the next 4 years....then all i can do is shake my head. I could care less about his medical issues.....he should be off our board cause hes not a 4-3 DE.

yeah i realize that..do you realize that at the end of the year our second best receiving option was like..tony scheffler? lol

jarvis jones is too good not to find a way to use him..like 30 tackles for loss in the sec..along with like 16 sacks or something like that

i didn't say just grab a DE..i said build a serviceable defense..a stud D-line would be step one to such a thing...most teams that have top flight quarterbacks build around them..peyton in indy, drew brees in new orleans..aaron rodgers in gb brady lately in new england....teams that have qb's who are solid but not great..seem to build more of a team around them...eli manning, ben roethlisberger, joe flacco, matt ryan...so i guess it really depends on which way we go or what we think of stafford.....even those other quarterbacks that i consider solid but not great...were given alot of offensive help..

nate at this point isnt ever going to be a solid contributor....hes not going to produce more than scheff could. Broyles...who knows. If he gets some knees and can stay on the field....sure....maybe he could help.....maybe. But unless we sign a guy that can get open opposite calvin like a wallace....then youre not going to see much of a difference with the guys comming back off injury.

stafford had a 1st round pick, 2 2nd round picks and a 3rd round pick as his 4 WR starters last year. We still only won 4 games. Not to mention a 1st round TE and 2nd rd RB.

i agree..that's why i said that we need to fix our offense first..you always have a better chance if your qb does good..in order for that to happen..we have to get him the appropriate weapons..i wouldn't mind nate, scheffler pettigrew, broyles..if we had like a calvin and a second very good option...then those guys would be VERY good role players..and yes..nate is still better than scheffler. he was on pace for about 700 yards again before his injury..

clearly we need to get it right for once...it doesn't mean you give up on it..it means stop making the wrong pick..although some of those were due to injuries.

Houston and Delmas do want to be here. Delmas is a team leader and top priority and both deserve to get paid what they are worth. Houston has hit free agency before and come back so you lose that argument. No reason to think Durant wants to leave either and LBs are cheap. One of Levy or Durant will be back.

It is very possible for a DE to be there at 5 with Werner and Moore. Delmas is a stud safety that fell to Round 2. That is where good safeties usually good end of Round 1, early Round 2. This draft is deep at safety, Reid, Vaccaro, Matt Elam, TJ McDonald. There will be a good safety there in Round 2 to pair with Delmas. If there is no DE, you take Milliner to pair with Houston and get a DE in Round 2 in deep class for that as well.

LMFAO that Whitehead and Lewis are worthless. They were rookies, they can develop and play in Levy's spot. If not I know Ashlee Palmer can. I've seen it in the Seahawks and Jags game in 2012. No worries at OLB.

The other DE spot is the only spot I'm worried about. Willie Young could return to 2011 form or a guy like Idonije would help this team alot. We'll see if he wants to be a Bear and what he gets. 1 year 2.5 million was his deal last year. Avril was very average last year, terrible in run defense and KVB was the worst DE in the league last year. Young would be a step up from KVB. A stud DE would go along way with Fairley and Suh doing the heavy lifting.

Bartell played a solid game Week 17. We'll see on him and Bentley is a talented 2nd year player

This team has more talent than you think. The 9 back breaking turnover and 4 special teams TDs from coverage that was fixed made it look worse than it is. Top 5 defense like the first 10 games of 2011 is on the table with those moves. Sorry to burst your hater bubble. Alot of work to do but the Lions have talent on D.

I'm not naive. The Lions have a good amount of talent. Did they underperform, sure. Did they have DE problems sure? Do they need to have more ball security sure? Does Stafford need to play better, yes. But they have talent.

Stafford with Calvin, Broyles, Burleson and Pettigrew can get the job done just like 2011.
