Let's go get REVIS!!!!!!

I'm not naive. The Lions have a good amount of talent. Did they underperform, sure. Did they have DE problems sure? Do they need to have more ball security sure? Does Stafford need to play better, yes. But they have talent.

Stafford with Calvin, Broyles, Burleson and Pettigrew can get the job done just like 2011.

Okay I'll subscribe to your newsletter. We have talent that, I don't think I'm out of line saying this given the result, severely (my word) underperformed (your word). So when that happens who takes the blame? If you had to lay it at the feet of one person who would that be? No tap dancing please, one name, who doesn't necessarily receive all the blame, that shitstorm was a true team effort, but 1% more than the rest. Rhymes with dirty gym shorts?

Blaming one person is dumb. Mayhew brought in the talent that's his job, it's up to the players and coaches at this point. 16 lost fumbles, 17 picks. That's on alot of players. Lots of less pressure in 2012(that's on the DEs mainly as the DTs actually did much better). This lack of pressure leads to less turnovers forced.

Mayhew needs to make some tweaks and bring some important guys back. He's not done, he's got work to do(DE,Safety, speed RB, bring back Houston/Delmas) and he knows it.

Wait until the offseason plays out to spout your doom and gloom for 2013 at least.

I think equal blame goes on the coaching staff including Swartz. I don't think he is head coaching material.

Of course you don't but to be honest most NFL HC don't deviate that much from coach Schwartz. You're not going to find a bunch of Madden's or Vince Lombardi's. More HC are more like Schwartz than say Bill Belichick. That's why you get reject HC getting a job after they sucked. And why more teams are going after college coaches. The NFL is void of any master planner material. You really want a Jon Gruden? Lol.

You are right....but I think Swartz is a bad head coach...they never should have given him that extension.

Well, I just think if we fire Schwartz our new coach won't be any better. Its always about the players anyway, really. My blame goes, Ford, Players, Mayhew and Schwartz in that order.

Who in your mind deserves more blame than the rest? In Tom's it's Schwartz. IMO he has a case. Mayhew is my +1% I think the team is void of talent outside a handful of super talented guys.

Thank you for getting the question. Of course you can't blame on person. But who deserves the most blame for a 4-12 season, going 0-8 and being blown out by Arizona, possibly the worst team in the league at that point?

I can see people blaming Ford for this mess since he let the Millen era go on far too long. IMO I put a little more blame on Swartz because this team has no discipline which is the root cause of most of their problems. Next I blame the players since they are professionals (well...some of them). I give Mayhew about the same blame as the players because he hsan't done a great job putting this team together. I give him a little less blame because he really hasn't had a lot of time to turn this roster over.

I was going with the question of 20 years of futility, or more like 55 seasons. As for the season, players mostly. Schwartz next in line. I mean who drafts a first round OT and uses him as a fullback? But regards to the OL, its all on Mayhew. He got us Sims, but he keeps these dumb-asses like Peterman, Gosdner, Crayola etc. Cut their asses.

I think they thought their trajectory was Super Bowl bound, which is why they got absolutely nothing out of last years draft in terms of immediate impact. Massive miscalculation by all those involved.

Yep. Cut the whole offensive line without replacements.

Or they are really good planners. They saw Backus age and Burleson age/cap number. I'm glad the GM thinks long term. That is how they are supposed to think.

If we take Harrison Smith say instead of Reiff. Safety holes gets plugged but tackle becomes a problem with Backus possibly retiring and Gosder being a free agent. It's good Gosder and Backus played so well they didn't lose their jobs to a rookie and that rookie still got some good game experience as both a 3rd tackle and Left Tackle.

And with Burleson injury, the Broyles pick was great. He was even playing well too and did contribute (Seattle TD, big gainer against Green Bay, 100 yard day against Houston). It's very unfortunate that he hurt his OTHER Knee early against Indy. Terrible luck only.

You start thinking long term when you think you can win now. Thank you for proving my point.

Almost the entire roster has turned over since millen. Mayhew filled it with garbage. 4 years is way more than enough time to turn a roster over. Teams go worst to first all the time. We went worst to worst in 4 years....that's sad.

Well actually we went worst to pretty good to worse in 4 years.

If youre satisfied with sneaking into the playoffs with 4 comeback miracle wins and losing in the 1st rd....then so be it. But to me this year proved how fraudulent we were last year.

I'm not sure I said I was satisfied.
