Lions ask to talk to Wisenhunt

Hire Frank Reich if we love Rivers so much. Hell, he has the biggest comeback in history on his resume. That works for us on so many levels.

Some more Caldwell facts

Baltimore Team Offense in 2013
29th in YPG (307.4)
18th in Passing YPG (224.4)
30th in Rushing YPG (83.0)
25th in Points/Game (20.0)
20th in 3rd Down Conversion (36.4%)
31st in Passing YPA (6.3)
22nd in Completion Percentage (58.6%)

Let's also not forget, that Baltimore offense failed to score a TD against the freaking Lions.

We better draft a good kicker. They beat us with 6 FGs.

With numbers like those, I might actually prefer Linehan over Caldwell lol

Could the Lions get a mulligan from the NFL and just skip next season altogether in order to get a better and larger shot at some newly deposed or more ripe for the picking NFL HC-wortjy assistant HCs and/or DL/OL coordinators for the '15 season?

:ugh:

Or...perhaps they should try to hire an "interim" HC for next year, with the stipulation in his contract, that he would be replaced in '15 or ASAP?I

Maybe it still wouldn't matter if no aspiring NFL HC or current/former NFL HC really wants to come here in any case. Their contract & salary would most likely need to be truly outrageous to lure and entice any halfway-decent candidate, regardless.

I remember waay back when (mid-70s) a LA Rams RB named Cullen Bryant flatly refused to report and join his new team, being none other than the Detroit Lions, as he was to be compensation for the Rams signing the Lions FA wideout Ron Jessie. Bryant fought the move in court, and won. The Lions not only lost Jessie, but Bryant as well, and received nothing in exchange. The Rams were able to keep both players...lol!!

That is when I first began to realize that the Lions were not exactly a "choice" destination for some if not many NFL players, and often wondered afterward if some of their draft picks actually had wished or hoped that the Lions would bypass them in the draft.

I guess I am the lone guy here who preferred Caldwell over Wisenhunt.

Caldwell is a defensive guy, and I still believe championships are built on defense and discipline. Our defense plays undisciplined football. He's the right guy to fix that.

I am worried about his defensive plans, and I hope he works with the personnel he has, rather than trying to fit square pegs into round holes. But all in all, he was the guy I preferred.

I think both were solid options though.

Where do you get the defensive coach part from? He's always been a QB coach, offensive coordinator, or head coach. He's never coached defense as far as I'm aware of...

Fuckitall,,Caldwell can come in here and might have a built in excuse for not improving the teams record much if not worsen it initially, at least for a season or two. He also could claim that he was not the Lions brass' first choice for their HCing vacancy. In a few years, much of the Lions "core" will have moved on or aged out of their primes. Stafford obviously would not be Caldwell's guy, and he might want the Lions to pick a QB high in the '15 draft that he and his staff can develop while Matt plays out most or all of the rest of his contract, IF he remains untradeable due to salary and/or performance. I hope if Caldwell is signed as the new Lions HC, that he doesn't get a Gym Shorts-like 4 years, $$24+ MM contract, but this is the Lions franchise, that has had a loong track record of paying out ridiculously overlong and overvalued contracts.

Lions wouldn't budge switching from 4-3. Makes sense. 3-4 is total rebuild

Tulloch levy suh fairley is the strength. Plus Ansah raw 4-3 de. It wastes three first round picks IMO switching to 3-4. That was only thing I didn't like about whiz. Turns out too big of an issue

isn't ten a 4-3? lets bookmark this and see where the 2 franchises are at in 3 years.
