Lions signed DE Israel Idonije

Like I said solid day. I've watched that game 3 times

Reiff is different. I think most of us don't understand why he didn't play more. Hell, even at RG last season. But its seems Schwartz likes to play the veterans either that or they didn't want him to get used to RG and then move him the next year.

Either way a dumb move, I think Reiff can be a good LT.

They felt having the extra lineman was better than having Reiff at RG. Since Reiff isn't a guard, they were probably right. Peterman did blow but the Oline coach was his old college coach (Yarno at LSU).

1st round picks should be playing a lot and not at some FB-6th OLman.

Alot of 1st round picks sit and wait a year too. If Reiff would have been picked this year, everyone would be declaring him the future LT, no questions asked. But because he got some experience in 2012, people are questioning him as the LT because of a handful of RUMOR articles. I'm happy to have a 1st round talent at LT for Detroit, one with some experience at LT from 2012 who did a solid job when called upon as a rookie. Plus he can improve with an NFL offseason and training camp.

The only thing that matters is going forward is his talent and improvement this offseason, not the fact that he didn't play RG.

A lot of people are wrong then. This isn't like we had an all pro offensive line. Or you draft a top RB but still have Barry. He should have played more and now 2013, his second year, he will basically be a rookie.

6th lineman trumped replacing Peterman. The Lions had good tackles and Reiff is a tackle. Going forward this has nothing to do with Reiff's ability at LT.

Young T play G all the time. Lots of lineman play all over. It was a bad more.

So, according to Hughes.....if Stafford were to retire tomorrow and we went with Hill this year....there would be no "change" at QB because Hill is currently on the roster?

WOW!

Dude is in la la land somewhere with Chico and Hoopster.

Your reading comprehension is like at a 2nd grade level. i simply said those people have been on our roster and they werent good enough to start then. The only reason they are playing now is because of backus retiring and Goz leaving. So to say we are going to be better now because our back ups are starting....is fucking ridiculous lol. If your going into this season excited about our offensive line you are the dumbest POS on the planet...gratz. Its the weakest part of our team. Last year was the defensive secondary. This year is the oline and linebackers. if they dont figure it out we will be lucky to win 4 games this year. If they do figure it out we can be a 8 win team. IMO, having a qb that throw the ball 800 times a year when the oline is the weakest part of your team is a recipe for disaster. If you dont understand that...then youre obviously a genious.

actually he slid to us in the draft because most teams didnt view him as LT material. Just like we wouldnt have viewed him as LT material when we were going to move him to guard this offseason prior to Backus retiring. Just like we didnt view him as a LT when everyone was ready to draft Joeckel and Fisher. Hes playing LT by default....not cause hes our LT of the future.

For fuck sakes, man, you're the biggest debbie downer i have ever came across on here. You always say you're a realist but you're not. You're a fn whiny baby who cant help himself from complaining all the time. Doesnt it get annoying? Even to you?

He was still the 2nd Tackle off the board, regardless wether he slid or not. He played LT in college and was a damn good one. He was drafted to replace Backus and thats exactly what he's doing now. You keep hanging onto those fucked up rumots about him moving to Guard though. There was no concrete proof it was happening 100%. Schwartz was just telling everyone that Reiff is very versatile and there was a possibility of him moving. So fn what?!
And dont compare Reiff to Joeckel or Fisher. Nobody can predict what the future holds for either 3.
By default my ass. Reiff was drafted to be our LT and thats exactly what he's doing. A plan was in place and it's executed as planned. There were no injuries or better options at LT for this team and Reiff had to step in by default. Use your words wisely....

It works though because LKP is Mr. positive. They cancel each other out.

except my ideals actually come to fruition. His are still somewhere in lala land where the pettirgews of the world are all pro and spievey is a monster. Levy is the best middle round pick since sliced bread. Stafford has never thrown a pick on a short field when his guys ran the correct route....blah blah blah lmao. Leshoure would have been good if he didn't get tackled so much. Fox hasn't given up a sack in 4 years.

You ideals didn't come to fruition in 2011. And the talent is there for this team they messed it up with turnovers that can get back on track.

And it was GREAT planning by Mayhew to get Reiff knowing Backus age and Gosder's contract situation. The Lions would be screwed without Reiff right now. Worked out even better since the Lions somehow got screwed with 3 tackles going off the board when they had the 5th pick. We needed a talented DE anyway. Reiff gave us that option.

Based on some stupid rumor article, you assume Reiff can't play left tackle which is full blown retarded. I've seen him with my own eyes do it well in 1.5 game. We'll see what he can do in year 2 but the talent is there. 1st round picks sometimes sit and then play well in year 2.

So, let me see if I understand the argument here...

Rieff played LT in college. He was regarded as the 2nd best LT of his draft class. He was drafted to be the LT of the future.

BUT some reporters claim that the Lions wanted to move him to RG or RT, and some reporters claim the Lions wanted a LT this year, even after several other reporters claim that the Lions targetted Ansah all along.

So now we know for fact he can't play LT in the NFL and we're screwed this season?

Yep, argument makes perfect sense to me.

Doesn't it though?! lol

Know one knows he can't play LT. Know one knows he can either. The whole line outside Sims is a big "?". As has been pointed out on numerous occasions its not like we had the '99 Broncos oline anyways.

True it's not a given anyone will do well(see 2011 DT play from Suh and Fairley as proof) but the talent for him to play LT is there.

Either way the drafting of Reiff was incredibly smart just based on a planning persepective and given how screwed the Lions got with 3 tackles taken off the board before pick 5. That you can't deny. Stuck with Reiff at LT is still a good plan and better than stuck with Hilliard or some free agent LT or forced to move up and give up draft picks for Lane Johnson. Most likely a 3rd meaning Warford is gone. I'll take Reiff, Anash, Warford over Whitney Mercilus and Lane Johnson.
