Lions signed DE Israel Idonije

People that play LT in college get moved to other spots every year once they get to the NFL.

No shit? I know this but Reiff is going to play LT for the Lions. He was picked to replace Backus one day and thats exactly what he's doing. If he doesnt grade out at LT ( which i think he does) he'll be moved.

how you conclude that from what I said baffles me.

Its exactly what you said!! lol

and you need to stop with saying the Lions are 'settling' with Reiff at LT or he has the job by 'default'. Thats bullshit and you know it.

Lions had a plan and its being executed. Were Joeckle, Fisher or even Johson better LTs in college? Meh...maybe but that means shit in the NFL. Reiff played LT at a college known for their OL and played very well. Im excited to see this young man step up and take over a spot thats been occupied for years.

BULLSHIT! You nor anyone else knows that he will be as good as Backus, which isn't even saying much since his nic was Sackus for so long.

Or he might be better. Why are you trippin balls?

Options at LT going into this offseason:
1) Backus
2) Fisher
3) Joeckel
4) Johnson
5) Reiff

I call that settling.....you call it a plan being executed. Obviously we see things very different but we can agree we hope the best for him. If all we have to be concerned with is raiola, warford and fox....that will definitely be better than worrying about raiola, warford, fox and reiff.

Fisher, Joeckel, Johnson weren't options for the Lions. Great planning with Reiff knowing Backus may retire and sometimes LT don't just fall to you.

Reiff could be better than all three of those rookies. Joeckel is playing Right Tackle by the way. He must not be a left tackle in the league since the Jags moved him. Your logic not mine.

1st round tackle with some LT experience is not "settling". Reiff has more talent than Backus.

You are failing to see the obvious here. The Lions interest in Fisher/Joeckel/Johnson at #5 had everything to do with RT being up in the air and little with being unsettled at LT. I think the Lions are happy at LT......but thought if they could get a sure thing in Fisher/Joeckel/Johnson and slide Reiff or the pick to RT.....it would solve a LOT of problems and give them bookend T for a decade.

Nothing wrong with having 2 great T.

Your argument that them looking at a LT means they werent happy with Reiff is like saying the Falcons weren't happy with R. White.....that's why they drafted Julio Jones.

You're delusional, bro. Fisher, Joeckel and Johnson were not options. They were not moving up in the draft for any of those three. Just like no other teams did......

He doesn't get that. And the reason they didnt' have to move up is because they had Reiff in their back pocket due to great planning in the 2012 draft. And Broyles is a big reason they didn't HAVE to take a receiver either. If those tackles dropped, the Lions do probably take them but that's only because the Lions take BPA, which hughes hates as well.

I'd like 'Hughes to respond the the Joeckel playing RT? They have Monroe at LT. Its not like Monroe is a stud.

If their plan is to make joeckel a long term rt they are dumb to take him so high. If their plan is to play him at rt until monroe moves on and groom him while getting playing time. ...welp that's way smarter than playing him at fullback. You can bookmark this if ud like and when he moves to lt in the near future we can revisit how right I am...again :D

They weren't options but would have taken them. ...nothing like contradicting yourself to make your point.

He'll spin it like he always does. Isn't Fisher playing RT in KC as well? I know they have Albert, but Fisher was drafted Top 10, right? lol. Where was Albert drafted?

LOL. They weren't options because they didn't fall to 5.

Whatever, go ahead and say Reiff was "settling". I'll enjoy a good year out of Reiff and watch you eat crow after 2013 on "settling". But the list will be long for your crow eating on a good number of players.

I think Broyles and Reiff will be my favorite though. Maybe Leshoure too.

You see nothing wrong with drafting kevin smith, jahvid best, mikell leshoure, titus young, ryan broyles. derrick Williams all in the first 3 rounds over the years and getting zero in return except maybe a decent half of season out of best? I do....means you cant scout for shit....which is why shack got demoted and xanders is here now.

Take a look at production from drafts over the last 3 years:

suh best spievey fox young toone -

2 first round picks. suh played really well his rookie year then tapered off.....hes making about 10 mil a year more than what hes worth. Best is braindead....whoever didn't see that coming is full retard. spievey blows. fox hasn't played since hes been drafted. loltoone. So you kinda hit on the #2 overall pick but he costs way more than what hes worth.

Fairley titus leshoure Hogue culbreath -

Fairley can turn it on....but can turn it off for long stretches as well. Titus is gone. Leshoure was outplayed by an undrafted FA. Hogue didn't make the team and culbreath is somewhere with munchies.

Reiff broyles bentley lewis whitehead greenwood green lewis -

Little to no production at all from anyone. Reiff will get his chance at LT this year and was a great value pick at 23. Broyles was a 5th string wr that blew out his healthy knee the minute he got a chance. Bentley might make a decent nickel if his shoulder doesn't explode everytime he makes a tackle. lol@ whitehead lewis greenwood lewis. Green played ok in reserve but shouldn't ever see the field other than in a reserve role.

All in all 3 pretty horrible drafts. Sure im happy we have Broyles now.....but to draft him in the 2nd round when there were 4 guys infront of him and we had needs all over the place was dumb. When you don't fill needs in draft or via FA that's how you win 4 games.

Exactly why I loved this years draft...it addressed positions of need and we got quality players to fill those positions. First time mayhew has done that in years and its going to pay off.....atleast it should have a great chance of paying off moreso than sitting a bunch of guys on the bench like the previous drafts.

I can 99% guarantee the "plan" was not to start Reiff at LT going into this off season. That's why its settling. And that's why its a questionmark. Your LT being a questionmark when you have a right handed qb throwing the ball 800 times is a questionmark with an exclamation point after it. When your LT is a questionmark with an exclamation mark after it and your center blows, your rg is a rookie and youre planning on starting a guy that rode the bike the last 4 years at RT......welp......if that was the plan.....then that's a fucking shitty plan lol.

It's called developing players. Reiff is a 1st round talent. He's more talented than Backus. That's a great plan.

Peterman was pure junk and rookie guards can do well. Especially mammoth men like Larry Warford. Great value and great plan. Plus Leroy Harris/Jake Scott for depth.

Lions are 5-0 with Hilliard starting. Could be him too. And Fox has talent, Gosder was the king of inconsistency. Gosder played like junk in 2011 and Stafford stayed healthy and tossed 41 TDs. Not overpaying Gosder, great plan.

Raiola bulked up. Finally. And Simis a good Left guard.

Taking Reiff a year before Backus retires is a GREAT plan. And the Lions have said numerous times that Reiff was drafted to be LT no matter what negative slight you have in your head.

Lol....how can you 99% guarantee it? You in the war room? You got a cousin with "inside" info?

You don't KNOW any more than anyone else. Stop confusing your opinion as some sort of factual information.

I 99% guarantee you don't know at all what the plan was.
