Lions signed DE Israel Idonije

You see nothing wrong with drafting kevin smith, jahvid best, mikell leshoure, titus young, ryan broyles. derrick Williams all in the first 3 rounds over the years and getting zero in return except maybe a decent half of season out of best? I do....means you cant scout for shit....which is why shack got demoted and xanders is here now.

Take a look at production from drafts over the last 3 years:

suh best spievey fox young toone -

2 first round picks. suh played really well his rookie year then tapered off.....hes making about 10 mil a year more than what hes worth. Best is braindead....whoever didn't see that coming is full retard. spievey blows. fox hasn't played since hes been drafted. loltoone. So you kinda hit on the #2 overall pick but he costs way more than what hes worth.

Fairley titus leshoure Hogue culbreath -

Fairley can turn it on....but can turn it off for long stretches as well. Titus is gone. Leshoure was outplayed by an undrafted FA. Hogue didn't make the team and culbreath is somewhere with munchies.

Reiff broyles bentley lewis whitehead greenwood green lewis -

Little to no production at all from anyone. Reiff will get his chance at LT this year and was a great value pick at 23. Broyles was a 5th string wr that blew out his healthy knee the minute he got a chance. Bentley might make a decent nickel if his shoulder doesn't explode everytime he makes a tackle. lol@ whitehead lewis greenwood lewis. Green played ok in reserve but shouldn't ever see the field other than in a reserve role.

All in all 3 pretty horrible drafts. Sure im happy we have Broyles now.....but to draft him in the 2nd round when there were 4 guys infront of him and we had needs all over the place was dumb. When you don't fill needs in draft or via FA that's how you win 4 games.

Exactly why I loved this years draft...it addressed positions of need and we got quality players to fill those positions. First time mayhew has done that in years and its going to pay off.....atleast it should have a great chance of paying off moreso than sitting a bunch of guys on the bench like the previous drafts.

Sodium Pentathal right there.

If their plan is to make joeckel a long term rt they are dumb to take him so high. If their plan is to play him at rt until monroe moves on and groom him while getting playing time. ...welp that's way smarter than playing him at fullback. You can bookmark this if ud like and when he moves to lt in the near future we can revisit how right I am...again :D

But you mentioned in your "option" list that he would have been better - even though we had no shot to get him. Yet he's at RT on maybe the worse team in the league and reiff is at LT. Except you rather have the RT.

I can 99% guarantee the "plan" was not to start Reiff at LT going into this off season. That's why its settling. And that's why its a questionmark. Your LT being a questionmark when you have a right handed qb throwing the ball 800 times is a questionmark with an exclamation point after it. When your LT is a questionmark with an exclamation mark after it and your center blows, your rg is a rookie and youre planning on starting a guy that rode the bike the last 4 years at RT......welp......if that was the plan.....then that's a fucking shitty plan lol.

Lmfao. You cant guarantee shit. You're not part of the Lions organization...none of us are. We can all guess though. And i think the plan was drafting a future LT to replace Backus one day. Oh, and look, Backus retires and Reiff steps in. Beautiful plan if you ask me...worked out nice eh? lol

Passing on a potential franchise lt at 5 would have been one of the dumber things mayhew has done....and he's done a lot of dumb things.

And you're probably mad as a hornet that he never got the chance i bet. Get over yourself...we were not trading up to get one of 'the big 3'. We had a young solid future LT waiting in the wings...get the fuck over it.

tony you used to be reasonable....dunno what happened to you. Now your LKP v2.0. If you think our oline doesn't have ?????s all over it your frikken mental. 2 backups from last year starting, a rookie, Crayola, and sims. Easily the weakest group in the division. The division we went 0-6 in last year. They need to step up huge for us to be competitive. Sure reiff can be better than backus....that's not saying that much...I just hope hes as consistent. Crayola will have to be good for the first time in his career. Sims is solid. Warlord can easily be better than Peterman. And fox sucks. A lot of things have to go right for this group to help steer the ship in the right direction.

actually I can....if backus didn't retire hed be LT. guarantee it.

The talent is there. LeShoure, Broyles, Best, Delmas even Young all have talent. The problem is things like injuries and mental illness that happened BEYOND Mayhew's control. Everyone of those guys produced when healthy and Broyles, LeShoure and Delmas will continue to produce for this team among the 1st round picks. And Bentley and Fox you can't throw on your "trash pile" just yet. This is their big chance to develop and both have talent. Same goes for Whitehead or Travis Lewis and Green/Greenwood. Young did produce more than expected for a 7th round DE. Your Fox is garbage claim is just a negative opinion, nothing more.

I GUARANTEE MAYHEW IS BETTER AT THIS THAN YOU HUGHES.

Hughes seems to think that his opinions are somehow fact. Then argues them as such. He knows what Mayhew is thinking at all times and what his plan with each move is.

His GUARANTEES are nothing more that obvious observations.

"Backus would start if he didn't retire".......NO shit Nostradamus.....and Reiff would be the RT. So what. What's next?? Who is going to be our starting QB? Who is our #1 WR? I'm dying to hear some more of your guarantees George Zimmer!!

http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/depth/_/name/phi/philadelphia-eagles

LMFAO. Lane Johnson at RT too.

I wonder if Eric Fisher or Brandon Albert will be the Chiefs LT this year.

You obviously have a hard time uunderstanding what a "projected LT" means. It doesnt mean they are going to start at LT day 1. Those teams are smart to get them on the field. As opposed to us who picks a 1st round tackle and plays him at fullback like our dumbass team. If we didnt have goz in our long term plans reiff should have played rt last year like those players you mentioned this year. At the least he should have played guard over Peterman. Instead his ass sat on the bench and once again we had high round draft picks that didnt produce for us....brilliant.

Most analysts/ predraft talk circles around how reiff wasnt a fit at LT....and did not project as a LT in the NFL....hence his slide from projected top 10 ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way down to 23. Sure he can play LT, sure he was a great value pick at 23, sure he can be better than Backus....but hes still a big questionmark going into this season.

Tony said i couldnt guarantee our plans for LT going into this offseason. Thank you for backing me up....you agree backus would be th starter there if he didnt retire which also means you agree that Reiff wasnt their first option to be LT this year. So thank you for agreeing with me twice.

Mayhew blows...all these high round picks year after year after year and we have a 4 win team to show for it and 0-6 in the division. Xanders is here to turn it around with his first draft and FA period under his belt. Things are looking up already.

Your arguments are incredibly dumb. They picked him up late in the first round and they had two starting tackles so they got him playing time as a sixth blocker. He was the best available to player to fit an eventual need. They thought he would replace goz this year and Backus would still be LT. Losing both definitely hurt. However, they have two guys they have held onto that can fit in the right side. They shouldnt have put him in over Petereman because he isnt able to play guard. Watch the preseason games and its obvious. He isnt built that way. the current oline will be at worst decent. They arent the worst in the division and they havent been that bad overall.

I agree and always have that Reiff should have been on the line somewhere last season. I mean Peterman was a starter. Dumb move by Coach.

But that doesn't mean Reiff can't be a solid LT. All it means is Schwartz is a dumb-ass.

Your rebuttles are dumber. CHI had the only line that was worse than ours last year. They made changes for the better along the line this off season. We downgraded and still have raoila. havent been bad overall?....what, you watched them play on otas?

But in the end you too are agreeing with what ive been trying to explain to tony and lkp this entire thread. They didnt think reiff would be there starting LT this year. So if my arguments are dumb.....and you agree with them...then call them dumb.....i think that makes you dumber than me.

I'm not sure that's a reasonable argument. Not expecting Reiff to play LT this season doesn't mean he's not a future NFL LT. The guy that replaces Ray Lewis doesn't mean he's not a projected ILB because they drafted him and Lewis was still the starter.

Nothing wrong with drafting a need for down the road in place of an aging LT. I bet the staff had a notion that Backus would retire before it became public.

A Lions playoff team to show for it and tons of talent in 2013. Please just become a Packer or Bears fan dude. Sick of your misinformed opinions.

Mayhew acquired all this talent. Not Xanders. Xanders installed the database.

Reiff,Broyles, LeShoure, Delmas, Bentley and Fox are going to shut your mouth this year.

And Webb graded higher than Bushrod by the way. Warford and Long are in the same boat. Webb at RT is not an upgrade. Raiola is better than Garza. Lions have a better Oline than the Packers too.

I'll be the guy who says it and takes the heat later if I am wrong...

Lions have the best O-Line in the NFC North.

Packers: Their O-Line is riddled with question marks, and injury prone to boot. Will the starting five still be walking by week 4? Hard to say. Evertime they take the field, you want to sing "Suicide is Painless" (look it up younger posters) and wait for Hawkeye to start cracking jokes with B.J.

Bears: They plugged in a one year starter in Bushrod, and Webb is the better tackle. Their C is a joke, and I don't see much from the guards. Interior of the line is bad, tackles are maybes at best.

Minny: Sullivan played extremely well last season, but Loadholt is anything but consistent, except consistently questionable. Kalil is a beast in the making, but Fusco is no bueno. Losing Geoff Schwartz to the Chiefs is a HUGE deal for them. That guy was the inside mauler opening holes for Adrian Peterson last season, and they will decline because of it.

Lions will be the best O-Line in 2013 in the North, and that's my prediction.

I like Minnesota because of Kalil and Sullivan. But you are right on Loadholdt. He's very up and down and their guards suck.

Even if the Lions line is like the 2011 line (which had inconsistent tackle play at times but good interior protection), they will be just fine. And I think this line will be the best Lion run blocking line in a long time.
