Next Lions Coach

He started with Mouse Davis. I forget how long he stayed.

Yup...he was basically the father of the Run and Shoot or maybe the Godfather as I don't know if he developed it, but he sure as hell made it famous. I believe after that it was Tom Moore, but not positive. Moore was OC for the Colts when Peyton was there...

And Mitch wasn't it coke and not weed? You might be right, but coke sticks in my head? Could be wrong it's been years and I was wee lad then...

Now that you mention it..not sure. Could have been coke. But not for one second did I believe his story.

clayton says we have the inside track on whisenhunt....would be a good signing.

I'd love it if we got Whisenhunt. I'm just curious why he says we have the inside track on him..is it because he played with Mayhew in 1989-90? Because Whisenhunt said he's going to focus on the Chargers while they're still playing and not entertain other offers for the moment.

he didn't say....probably a bunch of assumption, hearsay and guessing like most of the reports from espn.

I'm now rooting for a first round exit for the Chargers. I'd love to see something resolved soon.

Exactly. I was disappointed when they beat the Chiefs because it meant we couldn't interview Whisenhunt as quickly.

Hopefully they have some sort of a staff in place by the time the Senior Bowl takes place. I think that is on the 25th.

I didnt read this whole thread but I dont understand why so many brought up Cowher? He hasnt coached in around 10 years and it is a totally different NFL now than it once was. They have new rules and I dont think and old school coach will do well in the modern NFL. I also dont want Gruden and I think he loves MNF to much to leave. He has turned into more of a character on a TV show than a coach. We need an offensive guy who can work with the mass amount of talent on the team.

My top 3

1. Bill O'Brien He fits the bill perfect for what this team needs)
2. Ken Whisenhunt Took the Cards to the Super Bowl. He was able to rebuild Kurt Warners career. He also has worked with many good QB's and made them better
3. Lovie Smith I know Lovie doesnt fit what I said about offensive guys but he already has his OC and that is Tedford and he would be perfect for Staff. He has worked with many Young QB's in the pros and college and has helped develop them. The only thing I dont like about Lovie is if he wants the Tampa 2. I have seen enough of that crap.

Schwartz hired Jan. 15
Marinelli - Jan. 18
Mariucci - Feb. 4 (wasn't even available until Jan. 15)
Mornhinweg - Jan. 25
Ross - Jan. 13

Not sure if it means much, but the Lions seem to get a coach in by mid-January with the exception of Mariucci.

Soooo this list now consists of Cable and Todd Bowles....awesome. Speaking of Cleveland....why don't we just add Norv Turner to the list lmao.

The Browns have started the process of replacing Chudzinski.

Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles has agreed to interview with the Browns, a source tells ESPN's John Clayton.

The Browns, Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings are interested in interviewing Bowles. According to the source, Bowles will interview sometime later in the week with the Browns

I guess we should not be shocked coming from owners who are 315-448-14 overall..

Tom cable
11-35 at Idaho.
17-27 at Oakland..

I guess the Lions job is not all that great after all if this is all we can get..

Doesn't hurt to talk to as many candidates as possible. Maybe they're trying to find out what he did wrong so they can avoid it? Just trying to delude myself into believing this organization isn't completely inept.
