We'll see what happens but if he does sign him better make it quick otherwise what's the point in signing him if the saved cap space doesn't help this year free agency.

Get StartedWhat are you not thrilled about? WTF did you expect??
we put all our eggs into yet another slot WR and resigning one of the worst 1st rd TEs in the last decade.
Im not thrilled cause I don't think weve helped our team at all during FA. Were basically fielding the same exact swiss cheese holed team as last year. Ill try to talk through this logically. We brought the same guys back. The only major difference I can see is that we dropped Burleson for tate. Not exactly sure how that is going to propel our offense to be any better than it has been. On defense, we lost a starting safety and DE and signed no one to replace them. So our offense is microscopically better....if any....and our defense is worse. Need another perfect draft from an organization that typically drafts crappy to have any hope at all.
There were plenty of affordable options on the market....there still are. And we put all our eggs into yet another slot WR and resigning one of the worst 1st rd TEs in the last decade.
2004 Kellen Winslow
2005 Heath Miller
2006 Vernon Davis
2007 Greg Olsen
2008 Dustin Keller
2009 Pettigrew
2010 Jermaine Gresham
2011 Kyle Rudolph
2013 Tyler Eifert
There were 9 drafted, davis is the only 1 that stands out and it took him years before he was worth it.
Pettigrew will never be worth it.
People who know much more about football talk about how he is one of the best complete Te's in football. He has made some huge plays for this team since he was drafted so to say that he is not worth a very affordable deal is pretty moronic of you. He has had some bad plays but so has a bunch of other players in the NFL.

I'd take everyone on that list over Pettigrew except Keller and that is only because his knee exploded.
That's why he was such a hot commodity on the FA market. He couldn't get more money out of the Jets who have a ton of cash and need a playmaker. He's mediocre at best and got paid like it.

You're Pettigrew's agent now? Cool...
No I just read rotoworld. Put his name into their search and you can read the story for yourself.
Said nothing about him trying to squeeze more money from the Jets lol. Good one though
Cmon, Cheeno. You're turning into Hughes, bro. You're better than that...
My point was the opposite of a money squeeze Tony. Jets wanted him, were going to sign him, we got him cheap. The Jets valued him pretty low and/or he took less to sign here. And...the Jets need and still need TE so they should have overvalued him if anyone was going to.
Droptimus isn't sparking a bidding war. Pettigrew is mediocre and a meh signing for me. There are upgrades in the draft I would have liked better. Some on here are talking like it is some great signing because it is cheap but that's all he's worth.
The Jets, Raiders and Chiefs had interest.
I know Pettigrew isn't a hot commodity, but he's in a comfortable setting. He can move the chains and create holes in the running game. Who gives a shit if he runs 6 yard curls and falls down? He's a lumbering TE who most of the time does his job adequately. That's why we have Fauria to be more of an offensive threat.
I don't see any TEs in the draft that will do Pettigrew's job better.
More like a 6 yard curl and then drop the ball. Ebron, ASJ, Amaro, Niklas...all massive upgrades.
