Less important people need to get hurt..its simple

If mack or hunter was like ansah, their pass rush would fold along with their defense.

"Less important" what?? And of course if they were like Ansah, a punk, they wouldn't be as good.

Seasons: 89 (1930 to 2018)
Record (W-L-T): 558-657-32
Playoff Record: 7-13
Super Bowls Won: 0 (0 Appearances)

89 seasons; seven playoff wins, one since 1957. No Super Bowl appearances, the only team left that was around in 1966 to not appear in one. Best, last chance was 1970. This is either ineptitude in galactic proportions or expertly planned failure.

Don’t forget 1935, 1952,1953, and lost Title in 1954. I see you mentioned 1957. Hey at least the 50’s were good right ! Since 1957 it’s always next season ! I will root again as usual.

Marvin and lang and kerryon. Plus a tate trade. That is alot to lose for HALF the season. Dont act like it was just kerryon injury that killed the lions

Agnew out kills special teams and nickel

Run d took some time and harrison add. That hurt lions early

Decker wagner ragnow and glagow should be better. Lang hurt and it fell apart there. These are high picks and big fa money. They cant fail. They were good before lang hurt..then they failed and 3 weapons were not on field

Shead and Lawson and tabor was quinns attempt at secondary..slay regressed and some injury too. Quinn needs to do much better finding dbs. Shead had success elesewhere, lawson was never this bad and a 2nd rounder in year 2 you would think makes a jump. But no pass rush didnt help..though hand and kennard and okwara, the additions quinn made did do some good things

Hmm, so how was the team before all these people got hurt? Oh yeah, they were like 3-6. ENOUGH with the excuses.

Ansah is always hurt, and when he does play, he's inconsistent at best.

Every team has injuries, some a little more than others. The Redskins lost their first and second string QBs to broken legs and still won this week.

The Lions don't have much talent on the team. They only have one "difference maker" on the team (Slay). I really don't think they will be a SB contender while Stafford is on the roster unless they get REALLY lucky in the draft and in FA. I'm talking hitting on 90% of the draft picks over the next 3 seasons. Hell, I might take it a little further. They won't win a playoff game while Stafford is the QB. I'm not putting it all on him either...it's the entire team around him that sucks.

Look at all the injuries in the NFL. The chargers probably got it worse than we do, and look what they're doing. If we ir'd Slay we'd probably be on par with them. Lions need better starters, and better depth. The Lions lose 1 player and it dramatically changes everything it seems. It's not about injuries, it's about depth, and players not stepping up when somebody goes down. Imo, trading Tate deflated this offense, and most importantly, Stafford. A 3rd round pick for Stafford's friend and favorite target just wasn't worth it, plain and simple

Tate had to be traded. There was good chance we weren't getting to the playoffs with him and he was most likely gone at season's end. But it really started at the start of the season when everyone was healthy.. Losing to teams we needed to beat. I get losing Tate as a target but as you said no one stepped up..

Gone at seasons end according to who? He wanted to stay with the Lions. We we're 3-3 when he was traded, in position for a playoff berth.

Tate was offered an extension. Not gonna pretend I know what it was but I?m assuming it was at least reasonable. He declined it. He was traded.

It was a get something or get nothing situation....the Lions chose to get something.

This team has been in position for the playoffs quite a few times and don't make it (though the team was 3-4 when he was traded). Last year he was here all year and we missed the missed the playoffs. It's easy to say you want to be here it's another to be able to afford him. 31 next season, wanting a big contract -- seems like an easy decision.

Tate's a good player. He's not the be all, end all. I got a kick of the announcers bringing him up every week like the Lions traded Jerry Rice in his prime.

Imo no Tate is a knock against Matt Stafford. He saved Matt's ass so much and his run after the catch made Matt look like a better QB that he actually was.

Um.....that?s how it works. Great WR help their QB. Don?t think Gronk ever helped Brady? Julio Jones help Matt Ryan? OBJ help Eli?

Stop acting like having a good WR ?bails out? a QB. It works both ways. For ALL QB?s.

Did you know Kershaw and Stafford went to the same High school in Texas? Even played baseball together.

I get it but Matt needed to lean on others. Plus none of those guys ran after the catch like Tate has done. Number 1 WR last year, same the year before.. assuming he caught 3 more to equal Landry..

It's fine for Golladay who's a big play receiver. But Tate was the biggest safety net in all of football.

While I don't disagree that a great WR can help a QB, but I think the reverse is truer. A great QB can elevate a WR more than the other way around.

The bottom line is Stafford is not a great QB. He is a good QB, but nothing more. There was a guy on XM the other day talking about the recipe for success in the current landscape. He said you either need an elite QB or a good QB on a rookie contract. Anything else, you are in no man's land. He went further and talked about a "cut off" for giving a QB an extension (I think the conversation started with Dak). He said Matt Ryan is the cut-off. If you have a QB and he is better than Ryan, you lock him up. If he is worse you draft another and start over. I think the Lions have one worse than Ryan but they already signed him to a long-term contract.

The season was sealed already after week 1 you just can’t lose to the GD jets with a rookie QB let alone get blown out like that, season over before it ever got off the he ground

Maybe next year
