Stafford Tops Sporting News' Overrated QB List

This year. Packers (clutch first downs), Saints (big 4th), at Falcons (second half), Dolphins, Vikings game (last FG drive that should be TD if not for drops), at Bears (second half).

at Giants, at Jets, at Vikings, Bucs and Bears we had those games handled.

at Carolina, at Pats not much defensive help. FG misses, drops, Bell/ross fumbles (Carolina game). No run support.

At Arizona and Buffalo had really good defenses. Plus 3 FG misses against Buffalo. Zona smothered Calvin and Tate. I'll give him 2 meh games against really good defenses. Rodgers struggled against Buffalo, Seattle and Detroit big time.

What clutch first downs did he mke against the packers?

Don't even see why this should be asked. "Clutch" is as overused in the NFL as the term "shutdown" is, or "elite" is.

Everyone will define it differently, and in this case bud, you directed the question at someone who defines it by "he's a Lion, and he's breathing".

The FG drive several, the missed FG drive several, the drive of Peppers strip sack several, the TD drive (2 huge first downs) and the final drive on 3rd and 7 to Tate to help run the clock out.

But actually with a 12 point win, you could put that game as manhandled them.

So in your world, clutch is any pass that is completed. So basically regardless if it was more from the other guy (3rd and 7 to Tate), Stafford gets the credit as being clutch.

3rd and 7 was both Stafford and Tate. Great throw and catch. But that game we dominated.

First downs on TD and FG drives are important. Stafford is anything good about our offense. 9 times out of 10 when things go wrong, it's not because of Stafford.

On the TD drive he completed 3 passes for 18 yards. The defense won that game. They scored 9 they allowed the Packers to score 7. Two brutal interceptions thrown by Stafford (both overthrows) in that game. Defense saved him. Sweet clutch performance. You fail again. Can't break down shit.

Fuller should have had the first pick. Not Stafford's fault. Othe throw was correct decision. Incredible play by House.

Stafford moved the ball well that day despite only 9 offensive points. Two redzone sacks allowed (3rd string RT) took away points (7-11 points). Missed FG took away points (3). Those two first downs on TD drive were crucial. It was nice of Bush to have a big TD. Last drive we didn't need to score. Fumble for TD gave Packers extra possesion on O.

Stafford truly led us to 23 points that day. 9+11+3. And maybe more if Fuller didn't let the ball off his hands (in Packer territory).

And then he goes to Lambeau and tosses 3 TDs to no ints.

This is what I see, 4th Q against this team, 2nd half against this team, 8 minutes in 3rd Q against this team, 3rd and 8 against this team etc.

What I would like to see, Saints game, Redskins game, Indy game, 2014 season etc.

When you have to bring up parts of a few games .. ah that's not good.

Giants game, at Jets game, at Vikings game, Bucs game, Bears game, packers game. Happy? We dominated. Stafford did well.

5 other closer games where Stafford was good enough and we won.

Losses. Minimal Stafford's fault. More run game, protection, defense, refs, injuries in most of them.

at Arizona and Buffalo were the only ones you might be able to pin on Stafford. 4th ranked and 5th ranked PPG defenses.

3 FG misses against Buffalo. Miracle FG by Carpenter too.

And Arizona smothered Calvin and Tate with Peterson and Cromartie. Bowles and Cromartie gone from that team.

so let me get this straight. On a day that the Lions scored 19 points, the defense scored 9, Stafford sled them to 23 points?

19-9=10 points by the offense.

I'm sure you probably think that Stafford out played AR in both games. In GB Stafford completed 4 more passes and had one more TD than AR!

So with fuller settling in and standing between the LBers and Safeties with a clean line..the correct throw is high to make a guy reach far above head to make a catch? Why didn't Y6Stafford just hit him between the numbers?

Why wasn't a jump ball the correct throw to CJ? Wouldn't this situation call for a jump ball well before the Fuller (bears game)?

So LKP breaks down film like this. 6'2 speed receiver has a man beat for easy TD if hit in stride, better to throw a Jump Ball short and hope for PI. 6'5" freak of WR who can out jump anyone has two defender deeper than him, the best call is to try and throw it deep.

So was this a true interception. If he was throwing it away wouldn't the best bet be to throw it short where there were no defenders. Again logic escapes you LKP.

You are right. It's 24 not 23.

10 points by offense with Stafford contributing to the 10.

4 more from Neal sack instead of just the made FG (FG becomes TD).

14 true points

3 more more from missed FG

17 true points

and 7 more from stip sack by Pepper (no points to 7)

24 true points

Give Stafford another 3 for Fuller int too because if he caught it, then they are in FG range

27 true points in Week 3. Final score Lions 27 Packers 7

It was a fine throw. Fuller needs to make the catch. It hit him in the hands.

Jump ball to Calvin could be correct. House made a miracle int. We get a safety. Oh well. Stafford gets 2 more points for the correct decision throwing to Calvin one on one deep.

Contact the NFL, see if we can get his scoring implemented immediately. Of course only the Lions would be allowed these True points.

I love it. Just imagine you get credit for being clueless and unaware you are about to be sacked (Not from your blindside) and fumbling. That is actually a smart play by the QB!

Manning, Rodgers, Brady are all dumbasses. Trying to throw the ball into the endzone. Hello...Hello...Just take a sack and fumble. Same result. 7 points.

Week 17.

Block in back on Hyde punt return. Take 7 off for Green Bay from that. Holding allowed on the final two Green Bay TD drives for the gimpy Rodgers. Take 14 away from Green Bay.

We truly scored on that 2 point conversion but really it would be an XP attempt since Detroit truly should have had the lead.

Final Score Lions 21 Packers 9. Lions sweep Packers and are true division champs. 12-4 and 10-2 in confernce. HFA maybe.

Stafford gets the points. Lions still don't actually score. But they still won 19-7 so who cares.

Week 17 we should contact the NFL though. 21 bogus points scored by Green Bay (holding and block in the back egregiously allowed). Incompetent refs galore in NFL.

Just understand the difference between what Stafford did (really great things) and how he got screwed by refs or backup players (taking points off the board or giving the other team points).

Green Bay was one of the most healthy teams last year. I hope Lacy only gets 80 carries and Nelson has a high ankle sprain and their Oline gets freaking decimated by injuries.
