The Official Army vs ][V][ichigan Game Thread

I missed this one due to work, but am just glad they pulled it off. There was a reason a lot of people had reservations about this game. Playing Army is no day at the beach.

Obviously the team has things they need to work on in the discipline department. Turnovers and penalties keeping Army drives alive are just killers.

They've got two weeks to prep for their first road/Big Ten foe in Wisconsin now. Need to be ready to go

We have two weeks to get sharper and then a big test

Line needs too be better
Defense has to step up more

Army did the same thing to Oklahoma last year, lets not overreact to things. Michigan actually held Army to one of it's lowest total yards numbers in recent memory.

My bigger concern is how bad the offense is for short yardage situations. Why the hell are we in the shotgun on 3rd and 4th down short yardage? I get it we have a new offense, but you're trying to tell me that we can't keep a couple short yardage plays with the QB taking the snap under center.
We held them to 40 yards less than Rice did.

The D was just fine today. Other than a couple of blown plays, that's about all you can do against a team that runs it 95 percent of the time. I thought they acquitted themselves just fine today.

The O line was good. Gave Shea a ton of time.

This all falls on playcalling and the QB. And I just don't think Patterson is any good.

He can't read zone defense very well and if the first read is covered, it's trouble. Not great, Bob.

Yep, time to give the keys to Dylan. He'll have some growing pains, but he's the future of this program.

Defensive scheme was ridiculous most of the day... huge gaps, lb shaded to the weakside all day making it easy to run strong side. Just plain simple things they did dumb.

They gave up 200 yards on 61 carries. That's less than 3.5 YPG. You can't do much better than that. It's a pain in the ass to defend, but they were fine.

They are saying that Shea is playing with an oblique injury. I hope that is what is limiting him and not that he just stinks.

He has 2 weeks to get shit figured out and/or heal

Wisconsin is not coming and running the triple option. The game vs Army has nothing to do with the game @UW.

Heavy dose of Taylor. That will be UW. Completely different gameplan.

Whats frustrating is the growing pains for the offense and just overall sloppy play that results from missing or not knowing assignments. This team will get better but we gave ourselves no easy games. Mtsu is a good team and army has consistently been a tough game under this current regime. We cant afford to continue go be sloppy and the playcalling has gotta get better. The dline needs to get better at the tackle position but this team will be fine. Just gotta get back to work. Also...they need to bring back some under center stuff. This short yardage play calling is abysmal.

Yet Harbaugh keeps bringing in top 10 classes. Weird!!

Yes he does. He's got one of the 5 most talented rosters in the country and he hasn't had a team finish better than 10th in the rankings. He's 0-4 against OSU. He hasn't gotten to a big ten championship game or a playoff yet. I don't know what your point is but I would like to think that the expectations are a little higher than recruit win 10 games (none of them being OSU) and we're good.

I honestly don't understand how anyone can look at this game and not feel better about the defense than they did at the beginning of the year. They just held a triple option team to 200 rushing yards on 61 plays. They gave up 14 points in regulation. They also saved this game. Twice.

I can't believe I would ever say something like this.

I'd be OK with Harbaugh telling Gattis he's taking over. I'd rather watch that boring power shit compared to this.
