Tired of talking about 2013 and before.....

OMG. You're rolling with the 3 for 40 statement? Dude, it was an example of one game. ONE!! If you watch college football, you would know that Ebron goes deep more than your average TE. Therefore you'll see more Safety and nickel CB help on him IMO. When that happens, you should see less help on other players. And if you really want to get cute, i think it even helps out Tate more with a lot of underneath stuff because his strength is the YAC.

You writing this down?

LOL You said it, now you're backtracking. Ok if that's one game what do the others look like? What's he racking up next year?

I'm saying he'll actually have to catch those deep passes. Hell Tony Scheffler was open deep every play, no one was doubling his ass.

I hated the pick because i honestly wanted defense. My guy was Mack, then Gilbert. All gone

Dude you couldn't have hated the pick just the guys you wanted went top 7. That seems a bit illogical, that's like me saying I hated the pick because I wanted Clowney, I'm sure there's more to it than that. I mean you can't say he was honestly your number three choice.

Not backtracking at all. I just told you that you shouldn't cry if he puts up some pedestrian numbers ...which he will of course. Hell, CJ has too ya know!!

Tony Scheffler? lol. Ok.

Mack was doable. He slips by Oakland and we may have drafted him.

Gilbert was ours IMO. Fn Browns

Watkins ..... was a dream pick.

Lewan was another guy i coveted. We had a chance.

Mike Evans ..... i liked him but he was gone too.

Ebron was my #5, maybe #6 guy. I didn't like Dennard or Fuller at #10. They both dropped for a reason. And the rest of the defensive players at #10 would have been even bigger reaches

So if Dennard or Clinton-Dix was the pick, would you have been mad that they passed on Ebron?

I'll admit, i was on the fence with Dennard and Dix. I just didn't like them at #10. I may have even liked Dennard at one point but couldn't see them taking him lol. And i never really thought of Dix too much on here.

So, mad? Meh....not sure.

I can't even name another receiver on that team retard. Ebron isn't getting doubled by anyone right off the bat turd-lips.

Of course you can't, you have the football knowledge of my left nut.

Just the presence of Ebron will force honest safety looks....not the rolled to CJ coverages teams use now.

You will see teams play a lot more cover 3 too, which will upen up things underneath.

You would know that, but you haven't gotten that far in your wiki football page yet.

That's why i think i'm more excited to see Tate. He excels in the short game and him getting the ball underneath should be deadly. Calvin i don't worry about because he's getting his regardless.

Yeah he's the Beatles of the NFL his mere presence makes ladies cream their pants. We should have drafted a TE in the first round years ago if that's all it takes to pull the focus of Calvin Johnson...oh wait we did. No one is pulling anyone off Calvin Johnson to cover a guy who has never played a snap. That is fucking retarded. The only guy who's presence has earned game planning for is not named Eric Ebron. Back to your hole Booger you bore me.

CJ will help Ebron downfield as opposed to it being the other way around.

In my humble opinion it will be the running game and underneath routes that will benefit from Ebron. He will be drawing linebacker coverage because, as you astutely noted, db's aren't going to give CJ or even Tate room to roam just because the Lions have a new toy at TE. The league will see if the Lions drafted another Pettigrew. They will see if he can separate from LB coverage and then let him prove he can catch before they re-draw their coverages to account for him and Calvin.

Only logical conclusion there Mack. If Ebron lives up to his draft position and billing, we should see some big games out of him. The running game has always faced the fewest loaded boxes in the NFL, hopefully the new staff can exploit that. I'd like to see Stafford control more at the LOS if we are going to go full Manning/Brees here.

This is the next step for him to be sure. Recognizing coverages and being able to adjust properly. I think he gets too excited at times. The great QB's thrive on that excitement - it appears to cloud Stafford's vision and overpowers his arm.

I think Ebron will be at least what Fairley has been to this point - nobody is really looking to skewer Mayhew for that pick even though it has been so-so to what it has produced. I knew they were taking Ebron when I saw the guys drafted already. Ambivalence would best describe my reaction to it. I think he'll help but I would have still taken Dennard or Dix to add a potential game-changer to the defense.

I'm content to let it all play out though. I went through the schedule after the draft and saw 8-8. I'm hoping the difference that Caldwell makes could make that 10-6. I couldn't stand Schwartz - from the moment he came in he reminded me of a more popular Marty Mornhinweg but with fewer accomplishments.

I never claimed anything retarded such as that. And if you think by Mayhew saying Ebron could have a Jimmy Graham "presence" is in itself calling him the next Jimmy Graham, then you need to brush up on your comprehension skills. Because he's not.....

You get mad at us for quoting how people in the organization say hes going to be our graham....then your drunk canuck ass tries to use his name in the same sentence as davis? Lmao. Davis runs a 4.3, a physical freak, and can take the top off a defense. Ebron is none of that....not even close to any of that with his blazing 4.7 speed. Labatts killed too many brain cells....

Initially, yes. Ebron makes a few big plays and it will force the D to adjust, which will give everyone more space to operate.

Teams don't have to give EE the royal treatment to help CJ.

Here's a good example.

Lions walk up to the line in a 2nd and 5..... They're in a 3 WR, 1 TE, one back set. Stafford reads a 2 deep zone with man underneath. Normally.....the safety to CJ's side is going to roll his way, let Pettigrew be singled (for obvious reasons).

Now, Stafford can play action.....hold the LBs for just a second....send EE down the seam. As a safety....you're fucked. Ebron has the speed and agility to get deep on his man, as does CJ.....he can't cover them both. Normally, the LB can easily run with Pettigrew, who probably isn't running a deep route anyway......and you could single everyone else. Not anymore.

They will help each other. A lot. It's exciting to think what this offense can become.

All these comments about how ebrons presense is going to pull coverage from cj is comical lol. They will put an olb or dime guy on him and thats the end of it. Same coverage Durham, Ross and ogletree had. If ebron tears it up for 3-5 years then mayyyyyybe they game plan additional coverage for him once calvin retires.

This. Tate's YAC in this offense could be amazing.

Problem is staff gets the ball out in 2 seconds so staffords seem pass gets easily read by the safety who steps in front and picks it off.

Lol.

Funny. Why don't they do that for every TE? How does Witten catch that many balls? He has no speed or quickness.....and isn't as big or strong as Ebron. Why don't they just put an OLB or dime guy on him?

I'm sure nobody else has thought of that.....just you.

Genius!!
