To everyone who says Ebron can be like Graham

So I guess by this logic, Calvin Johnson will never be a great value because he was drafted #2 overall?

Okay, I accept that, but great value doesn't win championships. Great players do.

I've heard a lot of people the last few days saying Ebron drops too many passes, he doesn't have good hands, etc...

Drops are a really subjective measure. Depending on where you look for stats, last season Calvin had an 11% drop rate... or he had a 5.1% drop rate.

If you want to know about the man's hands, and what he can do on a field, just watch some of these grabs.

Value in the top 10 for a TE compared to a WR is different....top 10 Wrs fail quite often. No one picks top 10 TEs cause value isn't there in the first place....so if youre going to waste that kind of value, they better turn into a frikken HOFer. Ps....Calvin has lived up to his value because hes the best in the game at what he does. Unless Ebron becomes that.....ya, we wasted value since teams are finding guys that put up huge numbers in rd 3 (Cameron, Graham).

Basically Ebron has to be the stud of the century, we picked a TE at ten overall and have picked two tight ends in the last 5 years in the first round. That's not how good teams draft - please argue it is, I'd love to hear it. I think he'll do well but value comes from plugging someone in later that would do equally well- Jordan Cameron. Other teams do it we don't. Willie Young was the only late round pick (past the 3rd round when I say late) we developed but he's gone.

you guys didn't get anything I just said. We wasted value on those picks by trading up. I love Van Noy.....but we could have got him 5 picks later without pissing away our 4th round pick. That's losing value. Not the pick itself.

We would have picked Doug Houge's replacement with the fourth anyways.

OUr formula for success is all ****ed up. Good teams draft well, develop their picks, then resign them. the 2 late round guys weve "developed" were SLH and Young....and we just let them go(the fact we only have 2 is really disgusting....mayhew blows). We utilize FA to fill important holes too much cause we cant draft well.

Wasted 2 picks on Doug Hogues replacement 2 years ago lol....apparently we REAAAAALLLLLY needed a different 5th string OLB. Was tops on mayhews needs list.

Read this and tell me we couldn't have used Lewan. Reiff isn't a good LT he's developing still, but let's not kid ourselves. Oh and Suh and Fairley being gone is a real possibility, Donald would have looked nice too. DBs Safteys yep we need those, let's go tight end.

Waddle will struggle this year if they teach Stafford to go thru progressions...book it. But if were just hiking the ball and riffling it to calvin in under 2 seconds like last year...then im sure the oline will look like all pros again....and Stafford will look like poo again.

That still like arguing that there was no value to the Vikings taking Peterson when teams are finding Alfred Morris in the 5th and Arian Foster was undrafted.

Value doesn't win games. Great players do.

Adrian Peterson is going down as one of the greatest RBs of all time. Value. But seeing as no one drafts RBs in the first anymore because there is no value to it because of the guys you mentioned you are really making the point for us - TE, like RB is a position you can find value in later rounds. If Ebron is one of the top TEs in the league next year he'll join other third a fourth rounders in that company. If Ebron is CJ or AP that's great value.

I don't tend to agree with Drew Sharp, but he's takes a similar stance.

Unrelated note: Who the **** takes two TEs in the first round in 5 years?

You cant just look at him as a TE. He is going to be out slot guy creating a miss match. He is never going to line up tight and block an end. He is out 1st round "WR". the top two wr's were off the board and they got the next best available weapon

Who the **** takes two TEs in the first round in 5 years?

It's a really simple equation...

Mayhew identified four elite prospects. Watkins, Clowney, Mack, Ebron.

Mayhew said he was willing to move up and take one of the four if he could.

He could not.

One of the four was there at #10.

Add all that up and Mayhew is an idiot not to take Ebron at #10.

the same guy that trades up for 2 Rbs in 3 years??? thanks cheeno....atleast someone gets my value argument.

I really think part of everyones issue is that he is labeled a TE and when you think TE you think 10 yard receptions or less and blocking. And while Ebron will have some of those I see him more as a bigger WR. Not many other TE's have a highlight tape with many receptions over 40 yds and and showing him breaking away from CB's. He is 6'5" 250 and ran the 40 at the combine in 4.6. Where as Mike Evans is 6'5" 230 and ran the 40 in 4.53. If you change Ebron to a WR/TE it makes more sense.

Stop thinking about him as a normal TE because he isnt.

It's amazing to me that Cleveland takes Johnny Football and their fans think they are Super Bowl contenders.

We take an elite prospect our coaches wanted and our fans think we blew the pick.

I think the Lions are the Lions biggest rivals. Our fans hate no team more than our own.

Clevelands GM traded down, got a first round pick next year, Justin gilbert, and STILLLLL got the guy they were targeting at #4 ...at #22. He GM'd circles around our "I tried to trade up and down but failed...again...and again...and again" GM. That's why they are excited. They sold 2000 season tickets minutes after drafting Manziel. We had 2000 fans commit suicide.

Were our own rivals cause even when we do something good...like pick van noy.....its attached to something stupid....like trading up 5 slots for him and pissing away a 4th round pick lol. Its dumb that we constantly have to relive this shit...

This draft more than any other has been a huge bitch fest. We draft a playmaking slot WR/TE and people bitch. We draft a playmaking LB and people bitch because we traded up 5 spots in front of teams who needed a LBer. People have bitched about Dom for years, We finally draft a replacment and yep people bitch.

Outside of CJ we had no deep threats. Our management goes out and gets 2 great options and our fans bitch.

Oh well with all the losing the Lions have done, I guess we are entitled to it

Can we trade them for Gilbert and Manziel and an extra first and fourth for Ebron? I'll throw in Pettigrew, Leshoure's, Broyles, Fairley's expiring contract (those are useful in the NFL right?)
