Wow. Erie is fucking stacked.
That was my exact thought when I saw that rotation. They better win or come close to winning the AA championship.... If that's even a thing

Yea he's the one Avila said might go right to the big league club , not a bad "throw in " on the deal .
The one thing that scares me that I noticed is he strikes out a ton. Already 106 this season, he had 140 last season and 134 the season before.
he was available during the past 2 rule 5 drafts and went un-picked. That says a lot. Of course, it doesn't mean he can't contribute. We have seen guys on the scrap heap turn things around in the past...it just doesn't happen too often.
Just came in to post this. He's having a breakout season. 750+ games in the minors, less than 100 at AAA. Career .244 hitter but at least he walks at a 9.5% clip. He's got upside and can hit for some decent power. I don't know anything about his defense other than he's played a lot of positions but OF exclusively at AAA.
It is a thing. They're currently 1 game up in their Eastern League. 60-45.
It just feels like a lite package of players for Greene and Castellanos. I guess the market just wasn?t that great. It just feels to me like we should have gotten more.

Freep has an article with quotes about all 4 players from 3 or 4 different scouts. It's a really depressing read.
Basically, we got two pitchers whose upside is maybe 5th starter/ middle reliever. Another pitcher whose upside is maybe middle reliever. And a hitter who is as bad or worse than Castellanos in the field, strikes out a lot, and can barely hit .230 in the minors.
So the Farm system on paper got a little stronger, but it really seems outside 2 or 3 prospects, we have a system full of pitchers who's ceiling is 5th starter/middle reliever in the majors. And the 1 common theme throughout the organization is hitters who struggle to make contact.
Oh well, it's not like Greene and Castellanos were studs.
What those stats for Wentz don't show is that he lost 4-5 mph the last two years dealing with an injury. It's just recently ticked back up.
I just read that he has played exclusively in the OF since 2017 but his original scouting report said he was a plus defender with very good range at 2B.
