By signing Suh you put this team in the same situation every year. You can field some starters, but you continue to have no depth. Also you become dependent on hitting on 3rd and 4th rounders to field your starters year after year.
It comes down to if you want a top heavy team where one suspension, injury, bad day from your elite players can cause you to lose a game. Essentially you have a great player in a unit and less than players around him. Or if you want your team filed with pretty good players that together can be very good.
We saw it last year with Suh and the Dline. Because of a secondary that can't play press coverage, teams went short quick passes to beat a pass rush that was actually pretty solid. What would you rather have a dline that can get to the QB in 2.5 seconds and a secondary that can only cover for 2 seconds, or a Dline that can get to the QB in 3 seconds and a secondary that can cover for 3 seconds.
We need the money for offense, make it so hard to fail that it takes great effort to fail. Like it or not the success of this teams comes down to the QB and coaching staff not a DT.
